The biggest roadblock youre going to have is the fact that the original engine in the ~80 Ski Nautique youre working on was originally reverse rotation... and should probably remain so in order to preserve the proper handling and balance of the boat.
Reverse rotation roller cams do not exist unless you get one custom made. Budget $1500-2000 for this upgrade. The flat tappet reverse rotation blanks available for small block Ford windsors these days are somewhat limited in the amount of lift/duration that can be put into them. The amount of the heat treat dictates that they can only be so wild. The one commonly recommended is the .460/.460 (with 1.6 rockers) that Cam Research sells. With 1.7 rockers, you get reasonably close to .500, which should work well for the common GT40p head upgrade if youre content with the ~325hp level. If you want to go bigger than that, roller is the ticket. |

Woah, $2000 just for the roller cam, ouch!
325HP should be ok, don't want a gas pig either Been looking into GT40p heads, gotta hit up some of my Ford buds I will call Cam Research, cuz you can't see much on their site really Thanks for the info. Anyone else have different experience? |

Yes, call Cam Research- theyre a small shop with a next-to-worthless website. 325hp in that hull makes for a very fun ride. More hp does not mean the boat will use more gas.
