Trailer rebuild

I'm sure this has already been posted -- but I can't seem to find it through the forum search--
I have a 94 Correct Craft that has never had a trailer. Attempting to rebuild an 89 or 90 correct craft trailer (looks like a wishbone) to use. I have the 14 ft bunks cut and beveled, any advice on the best way to attach these to trailer? Also-when re-carpeting, why size staples should I use and how should I attach carpet at the ends? Should the bunk over hang the trailer in back a little to staple underneath?

To attach bunks, counter sink the stainless steel carriage bolt on the bunk and bolt through the trailer. That way the top of the carriage bolt will not interfere with the boat. Add a washer and nut to the bottom and your good to go. The bunk will need to be offset on the inside of the trailer and flat face on the outer in order to attach the carpet.

For the carpet, use stainless steel staples, I used narrow width, and staple on the outside along the sides and then wraps the carpet over the bunk and staple underneath the bunk, hence leaving the offset. This way you will not have any staples near the boat when loading and unloading.

There should be a metal lip where the bunk rests on. You may need to drill news holes to align with the bunk. If you have a chance and if the site has been fix, upload a pic. Have a good one

This is a 60's trailer which sounds alot different than what you have but you can see how the carpet covers the wood. I pealed the carpet off the back to show someone how the original bunks were tapered,hope this helps. When doing a search the sites search feature is having problems. Sometimes googleing what your looking for with the name Correct Craft Fan is best

Self tappers would work loose eventually. Maybe just get really long hex head screws & drill thru both tube walls. Double nutting is recommended, as the wood swells over & over & works the hardware relentlessly. I just folded the carpet over the bunk ends & stapled on the sides. Took a little notching.
