    Posted: January-27-2014 at 8:18pm
A few months ago I picked up a BFN which now resides in NC for the remainder of the winter. Some of you may have noticed the diary entry I put together not too long ago which gives a little background on the boat. Ive been dying to see the boat in person so I hopped on a plane last weekend and headed to Reid's to check it out. I found out early Friday morning JoeinNY was on his way as well to help break the boat and the barefoot boom in. Despite the cold weather, we managed to put 2 hours on the boat which included trying out a new ACME 430 and a couple short barefoot runs.

The boat is every bit if not more gorgeous in person as it is in pictures. It's a decent performer too. We squeezed 48.1mph at just a tick over 4800rpm with the 430.

I took a few pictures but am definitely leaning on Joe and Reid to help me out. They took some awesome pictures and a couple videos of us buzzing the dock.

Looks great, Dave!

I'm a sucker for those colors so I was really hoping someone here would take it home!

Nice addition to the Hart fleet!

Thanks guys. Reid kept telling me I would be "tickled to death" when I see it, and I was in fact tickled to death.

Wheatique was a joke between the PO and his skiing buddies.

Awesome! That looks great, I talked to Reid on his way back from TX but he didn't give me many details.

You should probably plan on making the SJRR...me, Joe, and Reid will be pulling at least 3 boats from his place on Tuesday and I would hate for one of them to be yours and have you miss its debut...which is a definite possibility!

Great pickup, you should have some fun with that...you gonna hump it up to run with Tim's?

I'm out for the SJRR this year. Too short on vacation time and Im not going a second summer in an row without a day off. I plan to bring the boat home with Dad after White Lake so we will definitely be at that.

In time it may get some more power but I was pleasantly surprised with the 430 performance, especially after running the 14x14 Dymex that was on it. Right now that motor is way too new to touch. We did break 380 hours by the time the boat was pulled Sunday.

Wow! What a gorgeous original BFN! That's a great purchase and will fit right in with that fleet of Correct Crafts you and your family have going!
I look forward to seeing it someday.... Maybe at the CT mini this year?
Congrats! John.

Man, even the trailer looks mint... cant wait to check it out (and ski it) in person! Those performance numbers are really impressive... no doubt it moves out nicely with the 430, as it pushes ours out of the hole with authority even with a bunch of guys behind it- and you should have more low end grunt. I'd like to see how a 1598 works for you... I'll plan on bringing one to WL and you can slap it on.

Marty, some trailer decals would be nice, but he needs the older style (slant sides)... the checkered letters started in '89 on the trailers. I think you might have made a set for Tom Beard?

Congrats on the boat. She sure is a pretty one. Sounds like she performs well also.
I too, love that color scheme.
You have to have one of these to match. This one is for my buddies '91, but I know Michele can build one for your '88.

We will be down at Reids in a couple months, look forward to seeing it live and in person, maybe I will even leave a surprise in it for ya, lol.

Congrats!!

I'm thinking it would be the same silvery aluminum cylinders we left in Tim's mustang at Gary's house. Just a guess...

I'm Team Red to the core but I could live with that Ice Blue. Strong runner to boot!

Same as Hollywood, I'm also a Team Red guy, but that blue sure looks great!

Can't wait. Depending on timing I'll probably caravan with you and Reid (and possibly some surprise guests appearances) over there. Won't be as fun to drive behind as ski, but with three days in NC I'm sure we'll figure that part out.

Yeah it was a nice weekend down in Pinkhamland (I used to refer to it as Reidsville down there, but it turns out there is an actual Reidsville NC and I was confusing people). I got an email from Reid around noon on Thursday regarding proper preparation techniques for salt potatoes and 27 hours later I was on a plane heading down there to join the fun. Much thanks to Reid and Laurie for a great weekend.

Dave got himself a true sweethart of a boat there. Anyone would be tickled pink to find a 6 year old boat that was still in that good of shape, for it to happen with a 26 year old boat… I have heard of such things before but it was the first time I have seen it with my own eyes.

The boat simply hasn’t been docked, the rope in the rub rail other than where it touches the crash pads on the trailers looks as though it has never been touched. The boat rides high and dry and there is no chance it hides any evils anywhere. I wouldn’t touch a thing on any part of the package.. alright maybe repair the things we broke this weekend but other than that I wouldn’t touch a thing.

We also played with/test drove one of Reids latest creations… no time to caption these or sort which boat is which … sorry
