I have a 289 interceptor engine in my 68 mustang. I put new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, condenser, points and coil an the engine after I painted it. It seams that I am getting no spark at all. I am all but positive that the distributor is installed properly. Any ideas?

Trevor, check the ignition an distributor leads at the coil. the ignition feed should be on the pos. side of the coil, and the dist. lead should be on the negitive side of the coil. test the ign. side with the key at the on position using a tester, or take the cap off and break the contact point open and check for sprk.

I have 4 volts with the key on. The battery is fully charged.
What voltage should I see?

The problem was a bad ignition resistor.

Jim,
Sorry I did not see your question.   I just use Autolite 45 and put anti seize on them. The plugs are changed yearly so corrosion is mot a problem.

You could also check to make sure the wire coming off the points is not grounding to the dist. , it can happen because it is very close.

Better yet get a pertronix ignitor and the correct ballast resistor to match the coil, try to get 1.5 ohms,, coil and resistor.
