I have a 93 ski nautique and the muffler Invertaflow has a crack on the side of it. Is there anyway to repair or do I need to replace?

I have been working on mine. Remove the loose dirt. Acetone to remove any oil/grease. 80 grit sandpaper over the crack. More acetone. Epoxy plus fiberglass over the crack. Sand and paint (or not).
