Larry, if it's not too much trouble, could you do Mousam in Shapleigh, ME. The top is Carpenters cove where I am then the run of the lake?

HWs post made me think of a couple other lakes of CCFs I've been on. Haven't done maps yet, but it make me think of the tally.

Cocitchuate MA- Ken Spurling
Lost Lake MA- Brad (Barracuda)
Sokokis Me - Keith
Tyler CT- Tim
Orange NC- Wayne
Badin NC- Greg
Norman NC- Reid

Hmmm. I'm missing FL and IL/WI

Kevin, surprisingly I can't recall where we were skiing last August, I want to say about where the green and Dk Blue intersect, but honestly I can't remember. I guess that would be the "shock" thing working.

We started where the blue/blue intersect and were going towards purple, must have happened short of the green intersection along dark blue.

I took a quick glance at seacamper/backfoot100/jbear. Lake Elbert. Round, about 2,800' diameter.

Falls - 4,304 feet

Alan. I went to school with a kid that went to North Attleboro District School. Apparently their high school cheer was GO-NADS, GO-NADS, GO-NADS

Mousam Lake is 13,246 ft, Carpenter Cove is 1,734 ft

I know you are looking for run distance, but I found this realtor website a while back that gives stats on lakes in CT, MA, and RI. It's a nice quick reference tool.

Wow going to be an official WI resident, we will make a Packer fan out of you next. You know it goes without saying, but I am more then happy to help with any remodeling, expansion or build projects. Just say the word and I'll be there with a truck load of tools. No mudding or taping though, but I got a guy...

Thanks Larry,
Yes, I've never been on or found water like it. Small lakes mixed in with some medium sized. You can boat all day on it. It only gets crowded on holidays when the day people come in and that's when we sit on the dock and watch the tubers!    My wife actually yells and swears at them!

Alan,

Speaking of your old haunts, here is Mashpee-Wakeby. Nice lake, look at all the choices depending on traffic and wind. The pink line is a friends slalom course.

Another discovery during my research.

Larry,
Thanks again but you missed it. My shop and house is directly east of the one you pictured. First the shop then just east the house. To the south of the shop is the bunk house and wood shed.

I'm lucky to have two lake fronts (not according to the tax collector! ) so depending on the wind direction, I can use ether Medicine or Spirit lake.

Mashpee was a great weekend trip for us. Now I should have mentioned to go to the North side of the bridge Larry. The side you mapped was not accessible for boating. And it was always flat calm, argh.

Yeah, it is.

Weekends are obviously worthless, except early AM. Week nites, because the ramp is at the southern tip, and the lake is bigger, the south lake gets messy. (tubers, and the jet skis used to swarm the ramp like a beehive...showing off their really cool turns and nose plants) The north one would stay not bad, and it had four possible runs, so you could usually do ok.

A couple views:

Looking down the 4867 shoreline

The north shore of the southern lake

looking up the 4867 stretch from the ramp

If your still looking up lakes, we used to ski on the Illinois river in Morris. Ran into Alan and Dana a couple times but it's been a while since we've been there. Now we ski at The South Wilmington Firemans Beach Club in South Wilmington Illinois. The GE view is pretty cool. Couple nice long straights with high banking to protect from wind.

Hmm never heard it called that but that's our lake. I rented a cottage way up in the top left corner of that picture for a couple of years. That cove was just big enough to make a dogleg and run back down the lake. We sent a few skiers into the woods more than once on that end.

The big barefoot run would be from that cove all the way around the edges of the pond and around both islands. One lap was ok but after that the place got so chopped up you had your own rollers coming from every direction.

Here's a picture of yours truly to show how tight it was up there. That picture is taken from our dock, it was barely wide enough to slalom. If you crashed big on an outside cut you could very well end up in your neighbors yard. Just beyond that it closed up more and then came "The Turnaround". A few years on that lake were some of the best years of my life.

Cool.

If need be, two groups can ski on Lake Orange one from the big cove near the dam to the dam, and one north of the big cove to the north end of the lake.

What a great thread Larry. Look at those guns Alan

I want to play too..........

This is our favourite ski run we call it the 1K straight. Shame Adam will not get to use it we need at least 8% capacity to run. Dam is down to 6.5% at the moment still plenty of water but getting boat in and out is a challenge.

Box text does not come out thought I had this Google Earth figured out.

3642 Feet 1.1 Kilometres

Figured out how to copy a pic of where we ski at. South Wilmington Firemans Beach Club in South Wilmington, Illinois

[/IMG]

We have a couple good runs at our disposal. The first east to west run on the north side is 4100 ft. from our dock. Then the north to south run on the west side is 2900 ft. and then a little run w to e to where we can turn around. No slalom course on the property, but we set up a portable when we can. Its an old strip mine, so there are high bluffs on all sides of the runs, creating pretty calm conditions almost all the time! We make it up there every weekend after work and enjoy it very much.

Slalom course is essentially right after the turn on the red line. Blue line is a longer run but its harder to find it flat.

You can see from the picture what the problem is in the middle of the lake on the weekends
