My broken depth finder transducer was located beside the pylon. The new one recommends mounting by the rudder. Any advice on location and setup?

I would think towards rudder. I know on my G2 Ski the pylon area of the hull seems out of the water most of the time which would be useless.

Just aft of the pylon is the popular spot. Next to the rudder may be good sitting in the water but underway gets plenty of turbulence from the rudder and prop. I don't feel you will get accurate readings there.

+1 on what Pete said!

Mine is located just aft of the drain plug under the oil pan.

Mine is located under the driveshaft slightly aft of the coupler. Works like a champ.

I put mine off center, tranny mount area. The transducer instructions said it could be up to 30 degrees off level. Supposedly you can use a bag of water to test your location for effectiveness, but I didn't get a consistent signal with that.

Use epoxy to glue it, not silicone seal.
