Like someone said above, weigh it, this will tell you if it's the foam
am sure you know how but just in case it helps: If you've got a truck stop or scrap metal place nearby go weigh it with the boat on the trailer. Then launch the boat and go back and weigh the trailer. Subtract trailer weight from total loaded weight and compare with what it should weigh, or at least what it shoulda been when it was new . Proper weight should be in the Reference section here, if not, somebody on here's gotta know |

Our '92 sits pretty level. My wife, dog, and probably another 100lbs of crap are in the boat and she looks nice and level to me.

Nice photo. Have been on Jimsport93 boat, have always liked the sloped transom on those.

Take a straight edge that's 7 ft. long at least (length of electric conduit comes to mind, or maybe composite decking board held on edge), with the boat at rest in completely calm water lay that edge across the gunwales, then put a level on it. Gently lift one end of the level to center the bubble to see how much list there really is. If you measure the space that ends up under the end of the level once the bubble is centered, and know the length of the level, you know it's 1/4" in 12" or 7/8" in 36" or something like that. Just seems worth the effort to really know what we are talking about for list.
Kind of has to be water/foam. I can't think of any other factor that would cause it. My '98 Sport doesn't list, and I ski a lot in a '98 Ski with 351 that I've never noticed any list in. |

I hate to be the one going against the grain here. but think this through guys......
1) I can't imagine that the foam could possibly be wet on just side. It's all wet or it's not. 2) We've all seen completely soaked foam removed from these boats before that totaled maybe 400-500 lbs. NO WAY will 400-500lbs. of wet foam list a boat by a foot. 3) Like Steve stated, 800# fat sacs on one side of the boat barely gets it to list at all. Something else is dramatically wrong here. Post some pics. |

On a composite boat you absolutely could only have water on one side, it would be at least as likely as having water on both sides. Without pictures here though we are all just guessing. |

+1 Guess I missed it but which side sits low? Is it 6" low on one side and 6" high on other side=12" or is it 12" low on one side 12" high on the other =24" over all? Surely if it was stored wrong, say driver side low and water accumulated + 200 lb driver no doubt it'll sit 6" low on one side. |

Does anyone know the weight of a 99SN with a python? I don't think it's in the manual/brochure..

Hey guys - Can't thank you enough for all the insights and interest.. Its at my cottage and will post some pics on Saturday so stay tuned.
To answer some of the questions 1. The boat list when nobody is in the boat, when i stand on the far port side it will push it pass level. So i am guessing there is anywhere from ~150-200 pounds of weight on the starboard side 2. Weight of the Boat - I believe the total weight of the boat + python is just under 3000 pounds. Not an exact number put gives you a point of reference. I believe the python adds an additional 300 pounds to the boat. |

My guess on a list that hard is : the boat was stolen, joy rode, left for dead half sunk for several months.

300 lbs for the big block sounds about right. Should put the boat in the 2600-2800 lb range, I'm sure the number listed in the brochure was with the small block.

Maybe a serious skier owned the boat with a serious over weight driver so he put 200lbs of dumbbell in the passenger floor to balance the weight. But most people I've seen are lazy and just the leave the discs on top of floor.

Oh yeah I read it wrong. Boat started off as a British boat.
All seriousness I go along with DRCC. In fact that scenario described I've seen in person. |

Maybe there's an extra 200 lbs of repair fiberglass on the starboard side, clean up from said joy ride. |

Detailed pictures should show a lot. I'd be curious if anything was hiding in the gas tank or air box area behind the panels.

Good point. While filling 400lb sacs on my '92 it hardly lists at all when only one side is full and that's with me standing on the same side. Our '89 lists more but still not anywhere close to 12 inches. Maybe 4 inches at the most with a full sac. |

I think someone is being very optimistic about their 12"er, lol
Think about it, on an 8' wide boat that would have you leaning at almost 10degrees dropping one side 6". Heck, one edge of the platform would be at least 3" under water. Betting the list is slight but noticeable, we will see. |

Gas tank area, behind the panel- have you looked behind there? Not in the gas tank. Air box is at the drivers feet. Panels are mounted with screws up front. Common to mount accessories (amps, heaters) behind them. What's up there on your boat?

RECAP
Potential causes 1. Closed cell foam is damaged and has absorbed water ( 80% believe this the culprit) 2. Engine Mis-Alignment ( 15%) 3.. Extra material on the boat or in compartments (4 %) 4. The boat was seized off the coast of Key west and $20MM in illegal product are between me and 4 inches of fiberglass. (1%) |

I would give the boat a thorough search. Take panels off, seats out etc.. It's not unusual for someone to stash lead somewhere for the purpose of shaping the wake.

I'm saying that a previous owner may have installed or placed something heavy behind one of those panels. Take a look behind them and find out. Take pictures to show us.
I'm familiar with scoot dogg's boat, it's sitting on my lift right now. ![]() |
