Fiberglass exhaust tube removal

Found a leek coming from exhaust tube.

Feels pretty soft and shot. Got that off and fiberglass elbow seems to be cracked. How do I remove that?

okay after a lot of research i have figured out the problem and hopefully the solution and was wondering what you guys think.

so i removed the hose, then noticed a crack in the exhaust muffler. i was hoping i could just remove the 45 degree elbow and replace it, but its one piece.

i would like to repair the one i have. i know a guy who does fiberglass who would help me get started.

has anyone had any luck repairing them? has anyone had one they tried to repair go bad? i know if it fails it means my boat could sink.

okay that's what i am going to do then. is it okay to just wrap from the outside? or does it need to be fixed from the inside of the tube? sorry i am new to fiberglass.

first off pictures will be important in deciding exactly how to fix.
BUT depending where it is, the basic principal is the same all around. and i would say do it yourself and have your "friend" supervise. because its good to learn and know.
If its a large crack you may need to buy resin in a larger quantity. But if it is small I would buy a tube of SIX10 and some standard fiberglass "cloth" or "tape" which is essentially the same thing just different angle weeves.
Biaxial matt you want to stay away from in your case.

as far as what brands to buy i don't even suggest anything but west system. I have never used anything else and never will.
for quick repairs the WS Six10 is a solid product because it alreay has thickener mixed in so it does not run as much and you get it all in an $15 tube and can use it with your regular caulking gun. (advise: buy a few extra mixing nozzles)

your exhaust tubes are either layed up in a mold or glued from FRP. in both cases you cannot just fiberglass to them and hope it all works out for the best.
You will have to sand the gloss coating off before anything will stick to it, and i don't mean sand it with some 60 grit by hand. you will want to hit it with an elec or air grinder and take a good layer off the top.

grind out the crack slightly and fill it with the epoxy,(you can use the 406 collidial silica too for extra adhesion)
wet out the fiberglass cloth and criss cross for strength then let it set.

it could also just be the hose was bad. it was very soft.

but it seems like that 45 degree elbow up needs some work as-well

would that hose be hard wall? or soft wall?
