Hello all, i'm David and i guess it's time to put away the boat for the winter and i have a few questions. I have a 91 Ski Nautique that i got back in the spring and we used it all summer and now its about to be put in the garage until spring. ok so first question, if i'm storing in the garage do i need to get all the water out of the block and if so how do i do it? can i just pour antifreeze down the water intake bypass until it come out the back? other than disconnecting the battery what else do i need to do to make sure that when spring come we are ready?
will try to post a pic later. Thanks for reading and thanks for any help David in South Louisiana. |

David....welcome to the site. Your winterizing the boat with 2 months left in the season? If you're winterizing already then fill the tank with non ethanol fuel, put some fuel stabilizer in the tank, run it a bit then put her in the garage , drain the water out by pulling the various drain plugs, change the oil and put her to sleep till spring..... Let's see some pics as we here are visual guys we wanna see what ya got!

David - a good description of the winterizing process can be found in the owners manual. Look in the reference section, all years prior to about '93 are pretty much the same engine.

David,
Yes, welcome to CCfan and yes, we sure like pictures! I just talked with one of our old members who lives down by you. when I asked Billy (aka the boat doctor) what typically is done with winterizing, down there, he asked me "what's that" !!! |

David,
Welcome. You might consider placing a few dryer sheets around the boat to help keep any rodents away. |

Just north of Eagle River. I have not yet had a chance to get to the fuel gauge. Hopefully this coming weekend.

ok, i hope this works. the first picture is my 91 Ski Nautique taken by the previous owner, an old friend, that he sent me. the second is my youngest son skiing, he went from never having skied to being able to tandem ski, kneeboard, wakeboard, and even trick ski all in this summer. third picture is my ski that i designed and built myself, i'm a disabled sit-skier. and the last picture is when we went to test drive the boat, thats me in front of it. we took a lot of video also, the link to our youtube page is below. hope you all enjoy.

David,
I sure admire you getting out on the water. It sure is fantastic to see someone with the desire to overcome any challenges even to the point of building their own ski! Here's a direct link to your video Also a big to your son to learn several water sports. No tubing is a big one for me!! |

looks like the first one didn't come in so posting again. we had several kids go with us each week and they did do some tubing but i told them they had to at least kneeboard and in the end they liked that better than tubing

That's a one-of-a-kind wrap. You oughta keep developing and patent your sit ski. What body of water is that?

Nicely done on the sit-ski, looked like a blast. The boat wrap is pretty wild, I like it!
I think what a few people were saying about your winterizing question, between where you live and keeping it in the garage we can't imagine you having a freeze up problem. Read through the manual, and some of the winterizing threads on here, and then if you still have questions ask away. |

Morfoot: I could swear you said on a another recent thread you just put 'em in the garage and don't drain 'em , but if so I can't find it. Or did I just imagine that......
Anyway, if what I thought Tim said is true, here in North Georgia where we do get some good cold spells and occasional ice & snow, then winterizing a garaged boat in south LA would seem quite unecessary. |

I have put the boat in the garage and i'm not really worried about freezing but i am worried about the effects of water being in the engine for several months. i just want to do everything i can to make sure that come April we will be able to hit the water with as little problems as possible.

Draining the block is pretty easy. Takes 3 minutes to do both sides.
