When winterizing my 302 today, I found a fuel leak. I pulled the carb and found the accelerator pump diaphragm in real bad shape. Has anyone gone to the alcohol diaphragm instead of the standard black rubber one?

Gary,
I've never rebuilt the carb and don't know if a PO ever has. The engine runs great but since I pulled the carb, I might as well do a rebuild on it over winter. Summit has two diaphragms available. The regular black one and a blue/green that's listed as "alcohol" hence the question. I'm assuming they mean it's good for ethanol. I'll know more about the condition of other internal rubber parts once I open it up. |

I wonder if the marine kits come with "alcohol" diaphragm because that's what came in my kit

I have the green one that skidim sells:
http://www.skidim.com/Holley-Parts/products/1055/ They say it's compatible with alcohol based fuels. I was just in there this past weekend. I had to swap out the fuel bowl, because one of the accelerator pump-diaghram-cover-screw-holes [that's a mouthful ) in the bowl was stripped out. I wound up putting the green skidim acc pump diaphragm back. It was still in great shape after 3 summers. |
