I purchased the wrong impeller from skidim. I bought the one for pcm sherwood and it has a keyway. I pulled my pump apart and it has a splined shaft! The back of my pump says thermo electron part 97221.I have the skidim catalog(great store by the way!) If someone could give me the part# or steer me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks! It is a 351w in a 74 southwind.

Kevin, jabsco #836-0001 Volvo #87536-1
These can be bought at any Volvo/Penta dealership.West Marine or BoatUS should also have these in stock. Very common impeller, with lottsa applications........Boat dr |

Digging this thread back up... I have been searching for the correct impeller for the original green plastic bodied jabsco RWP (splined shaft) on my 73 mustang with a Palmer 302. The pump is labeled 97221, and judging by the other info stamped on it, that may be the Palmer/conquerer-crusader/thermo-electron part number for it. So far I have ordered 2 incorrect impellers, the first being the one advertised for an early 70's Ford with a green bodied jabsco on nautiqueparts website (1210-0001, guessing it is for the pump that came on waukesha's and probably later on the commanders). The second incorrect impeller I got was the jabsco 836-0001 mentioned above. Similar shape but the thing is huge. I still haven't found the right impeller yet but will update this thread when I do. Didn't want people to be misled by bad info in the meantime.
Edit: just got off the phone with SkiDIM, Vince was able to find a record of having sold someone a 17937-0001 impeller for their early 70's thermo electron... Gonna try that next! |

I'll snap a pic, Tom. In/out on the same side, plastic green body.

Tim,
Just keep those that do not fit. Do not return them. Sooner or latter you will have a Correct Craft that will fit them. Donald |

You're probably right Cousin Donald. Except the 836-0001 that was recommended above- it's almost 4" in diameter and weighs more than half a pound. No way it ever came on any Correct Craft. It apparently cross references to a Cummins diesel.

Tim, You probably already have looked at it but both Jabsco and Sherwood have impeller selection charts that show type of bore, width and diameters. If not, I'll see if I can dig up a link. With Jabsco, maybe you ended up talking with one of the newer guys that doesn't go back far enough in time? |

I have a Jabsco pump sitting on the shelf. I don't think it is what you need, but it is in and out on the same side, plastic body ( black).
I did found this http://inetmarine.com/CRU23270CrusaderRawWaterPumpKitchanges97221Jabscoovertocurrent.aspx |

Didn't call Jabsco, have been trying to cross reference it by the thermo-electron part number on the pump since that's all I have to work from. Will call if the SkiDIM attempt doesn't pan out.

Thanks Tom, id like to avoid a $675 pump replacement but that does imply an outdated/oddball pump... Which might explain the difficulty in finding the impeller for it. It's currently cooling great, but the impeller is not new and should be replaced just for peace of mind (I've been bitten too many times by not replacing it on a new-to-me boat). Just gotta figure out what fits!

Can't argue with that Tim.
That website has a phone number listed, might get the impellor part number from them. |

Those are now in Volvo parts. Evidently you were given the wrong number. But they are a Volvo part. I use them, I just don't have a part number.
Don't get one from West Marine, those would be Sierra, and they last all day and all month just not all year. |

Yep, for sure a volvo part. I might have saved the packaging when I bought one a couple years ago. I just had the pump rebuilt. New seals and bearings.

Glad to hear the impeller is still available... If someone can confirm the part number, that would be great- I have the 17937-0001 being sent directly to Greg's this weekend and will find out whether we got it right in a few days!
