learning to barefoot

I have a gift card to barefoot central. I wanna buy some shoe skis. I have buddies that have the WBC ones and the barefoot international ones so I will get to try them both but is there a reason I should get one over the other or is it just personal preference.

Thanks for the info. Bfcentral sells their shoes and the BI plastic ones. So those are my two options. But it sounds like the WBC are the way to go. THnkas

Agree with Pat. I have the BFC shoes and when not on your feet these are the best option I have found

yup get your body weight down to about 180 and under for an easier 40 mph 1 ft. lol

Probably depends on foot size too... Might need to get the weight under 160 for 39-40mph 1-foots.

Ah, yes- prop selection will be critical. You may have a substantial mismatch at your elevation. Going to a modern prop that matches your use will likely wake the boat up significantly. Post more info when the time comes (prop, rpm, speed, etc).

Not sure what you mean by "doable". Even with perfect form, there are limitations as to what you can do. You can't cheat physics. I guarantee you that my 200lbs and size 10's won't be doing 1-foots at 39.

The right prop for footing at altitude would be the same for slalom. Something too large for the engine/hull based on the altitude you're running is hurting performance everywhere. That is likely where you're at now.

Perfect form (not plowing) will allow you to perform 1-foots at the slowest possible speed. That does not guarantee you can or should be able to do them at 39. Like I said, that's a function of weight, foot size, foot shape and form. You can only control form and body weight (to some extent). Probably easier to make your boat faster than to grow a bigger, flatter foot.

I can ski slower but prefer no less than 39. 42 can allow for some 1-foots but I'll take 44+ if the boat is capable.

Meh, I'm not so sure. I skied a Flightcraft with a 200merc this summer and with it set up for footing (trimmed down and weight in the nose), it was pulling footers 43 or so at wot. At altitude, probably no faster than your boat would be if propped correctly. Wake is awesome, of course- but it drives... Like an outboard. Inboards are the norm these days, Sanger DXII is the primary player, but some of the late 90's and 2000's Malibus foot pretty well too. Of course, wake is only critical if you're doing wake crosses or spending a lot of time in the table.
