I have started on a 13.6 wahoo (whaler impersonator) i wanted to peel the deck?liner off the hull to refoam and refresh. I was having trouble separating it with the foam bonding the top to the hull so I joined the wahoo owners web site. and the whaler owners to ask if i was missing something. its been 4 days with many views and no advice or acknowledgement from either site...... everyone who visits here should count there blessings this site must be the best thing on the internet . well besides midget bowling..

I agree, pretty amazing the resources and knowledge on this site.

One a similar note ..... I had an outfit in Missouri rebuild the jet pump in my Eliminator, plus bought some parts. 2nd one I've had done there. The guy that owns it is great, I emailed a question about install at noon today and had a reply, in detail with picture, at 1:30. It's such a pleasure to deal with people that not only know their stuff, but are interested enough to share it and respond.

I wish I had advice for your problem, but not sure what the solution is ..... good luck with the project!

This site is clearly One of the biggest reasons I purchased a CC.... My first boat was a Supra, an 88 Mariah. When I had issues with engine, transmission, prop, etc.....I'd post something on the Supra site....and crickets was all I got. The only two, decent sites are this one and the Mastercraft forums....this one being far better. The knowledgeable and generous people on this site give me great cause to be a lifetime CC owner.

Troubleshooting my GT-40 last year was made a lot easier by this forum....probably would have wasted a lot more time and money without it.

Peter,
What's going on with the foam between the skins that is requiring the "refresh"?

Yeah where else can one get ridiculed so much for trying to keep an old boat afloat with a different idea.

The one time I've seen a Whaler style boat refoamed (it was another manufacturer but I forget, 14' tri-hull withClassic 50), they had to cut the floor out with deck still in place, refoam then glassed over that'll to the lip left on the sides.

Pete the boat feels heavy . the gas tank is glassed in under the bench seat and is junk so I was going to go at it with the liner off. i ended up giving up and took the cap off the seat and have removed the tank. the foam is wet even on the perimeter of the tank. at this point im going to leave the foam. the boat is a 13 1/2 ft wahoo it has a 50 on it so it will hopefully overcome some added wait. i'm rolling it over to paint the hull so maybe it will dry up a bit (doubtful).

Peter,
PM Mark. He's got 2 Whalers and may have some ideas. I know he's also active on the Whaler site.
I seem to recall that some have resorted to pouring a solvent into the cavity to dissolve the foam and break the bond on double skinned foamed hulls. I don't know if it would work on a Whaler since I don't know what type of foam was used. Some after curing aren't attacked with solvents.
