Teak cleaner

Someone should try this 2 part cleaner from Jametown

Backyard hack check your links and try the F12 key. I'd try it but I only do my teak when I change my impeller and points.

I took ,my Youngest to orientation day at Umass Dartmouth this morning and Jamestown is about 8 miles off of the highway on the way home from there so I stopped by and picked up some of this Total Boat 2 part Teak cleaner.and some matching Teak oil. The counter guy says the total boat teak oil produces a better golden color than the other brands they carry.

I've had great issues getting my platform clean over the years, could never get all the black out of the joints between boards, and out of the grain of the wood no matter what I used.. When I pulled the boat out from under its cover this year the platform was really black, and some general type wood cleaner and a plastic scrub brush cleaned up some of it, but, nowhere near good enough to start re oiling   So far I've applied it to about 1/4 of the swim platform as a test and the stuff is like magic compared to others I've used like Starbrite.   Does seem to lift the grain a bit though, although that could be the brass brush I am using too. Also did a an end of one of my side step pieces (87 BFN) that have not been touched in the 4 years I have had the boat, and who knows how long before that to see what it would do to completely untouched teak.. That piece was pure silver color and very dry when I started.

I have pictures of the work in progress. Haven't spent all that much time on both pieces, maybe 10 minutes total. The part A stuff does the majority of the cleaning and produces a nice golden color, the part B neutralizes the part a but it also lightens up the wood.. Wood comes out like freshly milled wood if you get all the dirt out of the grain.. Total cost, cleaner and oil was $39. Might be enough cleaner to do all the teak on the boat twice, we shall see.
