Looking for an 11a rudder for my 176. I realize bushing will need to be replaced as well. I have tested both the stock and aftermarket Rudders designed for the 176 and neither perform well. Any help in locating an 11a would be greatly appreciated.

Kevin,
What "stock" rudder did you try? CC first used the same rudder they used on the SN and then it's my understanding they started making a SS downsized version because the 176 was out performing the SN. What performance problems are you having? |

I had the stock bronze rudder on it and at slow speeds you have virtually no control at all. So I purchased the "SS" model and pretty much the same thing. Also on both rudders, when you make go for a turn it is slow and arching. I had a 1996 sport nautique and I could do the "bat turn" on a dime,

You need to swap the entire port (not just a "bushing") if going to the 11a, the shaft diameter is larger on the 11a.
Pete, I do not believe the 11a was ever offered on the 176. |
