Hi friends,
thank you for letting me joining this forum.
I am a proud "new to me" owner of a gorgeous 1986 ski Nautique.
The owner has indicated to me that this unit is very rare. I am having a hard time understanding why. I was told that only five of this model were made.
I am not sure what that fully means.

here is my serial number#
CTC19718C686

It has a black and ivory colour scheme hull.

Any help is appreciated.
thank you,
waiting for the ice to leave......

Sean,
Welcome to CCfan. How about some pictures since the HIN doesn't indicate a model.

I will post photos as soon as I learn how to.
It is supposedly one of five made.
All black hull with an ivory stripe.
Red and white interior.
it has a limited edition badge on the steering console.
was purchased from matrix marine originally then sent to Las Vegas. "Original owner"
Then repatriated back to Canada"Winnipeg" second owner.
And now I am the third owner who is bringing it back to Alberta just down the road from matrix marine. It seems very fitting. The circle of life.

The second owner has indicated the rareness of this model, but for the life of me, I can not begin to understand why. If the colour scheme is rare, I am not sure why.
Just curious.

Another couple of weeks and the ice should be gone!

Sean,
It seems that the posting of pictures is down for the moment so

here's the brochure from 86 scroll to the right for the colors Could your hull be the taffy ivory and the nomad?

Hmmmm

So far I dont see anything that makes it special or unique. Nice looking boat, and congrats, but I dont see anything special yet. In 86 the somewhat "special" black and silver metal flake 25th anniversary boats were made, about 80 of them or so. They were the "special" anniversary boat. But thats all I know of that was special for 86.

Thank you,
So far I agree with you. But the Limited Edition badging on the console has me confused.
The hull also has the 25th-anniversary lettering. Not sure if limited edition badging and 25th anniversary are connected. I bought the boat as the value of the Nautique was there, not the proposed rarity. However, the owner was adamant that this is one of five boats made in 1986 to received limited edition badging due to this colour scheme and some mechanical upgrades.

I love a mystery, but I don't see the mystery yet. Just happy to bring this girl back home to where she started.

It may be a rare boat in terms of the color combo and interior combo for that year. I can't seem to recall any other 86 black hull with the white stripe, if it has a Commander there would be that many fewer twins out there.

My 76 is "rare" in terms of the painted black dash, anodized aluminum windshield without vents and rounded driver seat in 1976. But that boat is as common as the day is long in '75. And it seems purple and black '93's with red pin stripe isn't too common, most have gray or teal pin. But purple might've been the most common color in 93 &94.

But rare limited edition 86? Not seeing it. Congratulations though, you bought a boat that will perform well and will look good.

Edit- found only 1 in the diaries that appears to be same color scheme but with a 454.

Cant really tell from pics, but I am guessing it does not have a black deck, although that would add to the cool factor if it did. I went to the diaries to find the other one you mentioned and got all the way to page 21 of 22 to see that it was the boat Hollywood has claimed (which has a white deck)

Welcome to the site, enjoy the ride. Great looking boat. Similar to mine, except the colors are in opposite spots. It is a great color scheme. When I first saw mine I was totally stoked I loved the colors and every where it goes it gathers attention. Your color scheme is even more eye catching. I like it better than mine. One Damm good looking boat. It looks well cared for. What kind of hours does it have?

It has reverse gel coat. Typically, the black and white would be switched. You do see the reversed gel from time to time. A little time with the buffer and some wax, that girl will shine again.

Great looking boat.

This is one of my favorite boats that hits our lake periodically. Opposite color scheme, but I like it. Fact that its a BBC BFN doesnt hurt either.

Wow. Gorgeous boat.

The previous owner has eluded to the boats supposed rarity by adding that it was one of five made in that 25th anniversary year in the black hull. So that helps.
It was also apparently used in a marketing brochure in the
1990's by correct craft.
Apparently it has a picture of the original owners wife in her wedding gown. With the veil trailing across the back deck.
Supposedly the boat was used as the wedding limo.
Correct craft got a hold of the photo and used it in a marketing brochure.

If anyone has seen this brochure it would be nice to get a copy.
Very excited to get this girl all wet.!!!! Hurry global warming... Hurry.

My personal opinion is that the 1986 2001 was one of the best looking correct crafts ever made, the black looks awesome!
