Transmission fluid

I purchased 4 quarts of Dextron III for the tranny and placed the boat on water hose. Once engine at 150 degrees shut down and checked fluid level in tranny. I asked my son to grab a quart and place in transmission because it was low. He grabbed a quart meant for my transmission in my Honda Ridgeline Castrol: "Transmax; Import Multi-vehicle", instead of the Dextron III. Is it ok to mix these two difference products. Castrol says it is compatible for Ford and GM use and that it can be used where Dextron III is specified Thank you in advance

you'll get all kinds of opinions on this, so the best thing you can do is pump the fluid out through the dipstick hole and replace it with the Dex 3 that you already have.

Looks like you have a 1990 with a PCM 1.23 to 1 transmission. If that's the case it holds about 2 quarts.

If you don't have a pump you can find a cheap one at Harbor Freight for 7 or 8 bucks that will do the job.

By replacing what's in there you won't be worrying about whether you're gonna have a problem every time you're in the boat and junior will breathe easier too.

Use a piece of metal tubing about 12 to 15 inches long hooked to the suction hose so you can reach to the bottom and not have anything silly happen like getting the hose stuck in the transmission.
