Who's the expert on a 1970 Chrysler 318 electrical? Ken? Charlie (brady) has one in his Cuda and feels the cut out relay is bad. He did some troubleshooting for a no charge and found there's no continuity in the relay coil. I was just in the manual and it looks like it prevents a back feed between the battery and alternator when the engine isn't running?? Is this the purpose?

Hi Pete

Somewhere there's a Ken that's an expert on these things, but it's not me

I think that what you said makes sense though.

Years ago I watched an really old neighbor (about your age and mine now) try to explain a Chrysler electrical system to me as he worked on his boat..

I think it has a set of points that close or open depending on whether the alternator( or maybe generator) is running or not.and that you can file the points like in a distributor to clean them up, but if the coil has no continuity maybe it's burned out.
