78 Ski Nautique trailer for sale. Completely redone. Sandblasted, primed, and painted. New bunks, carpet, wiring, LED lights, tires, wheel bearings, and wheels,

I just bought this trailer from another member on Saturday and unfortunately it will not work with my boat.. It's an awesome trailer and I wish it fit but all I have left to do is sell it.

Beautiful refurbished trailer for a pre-2001 hull Ski Nautique $1,500.00

Thanks,
Rick

FYI, there is no difference between a pre-2001 #3 and a later one. Cc started making the "delux" version with diamond plate steps in late '83, the 82-83 (non-delux) is the same trailer that came under the 2gen SN (70-81) and will fit both hulls. I've actually seen the #3 non-delux under a SN as new as a TSC.

Nice.. I spent years looking for a good secondary trailer for my boat. Now that I've decided to sell it a local one pops up.

TRBebj - you are the second person that told me my boat should fit that trailer so I need to figure out what's amiss.

My current trailer is definitely not the deluxe, there's no prop guard or steps.

I lifted my boat of my trailer and slid the new one in place and realized it was a little shorter and narrower than the old one, 14" shorter and 2" narrower. I then removed the bow stop to see if I could get the boat to sit more forward on it and as the boat was coming down I saw that it would of hit the fenders before sitting completely down on the bunks. The top of my fenders are about 3/4" higher than the bunks and the new trailer's are 2.5" higher. The picture below shows the boat about to sit atop the fender before the boat is all the way down. I'm glad I didn't swap it at the lake and powered onto the trailer.. that would of been ugly!

Can someone do me a favor and take some measurements of their trailer for me? From the coupler to the end of the bunks, width between the fenders, width between the bunks at the widest point, and height of the fenders above the bunks. I'll go to the shop today and get the same measurements.

Thanks!

Tim has measured a lot of trailers but clearly not all.

Length isn't an issue. Did you measure the tongue weight?

Yes the 2001 used shorter fenders. Looks like the axle is further from the frame. There could be more differences we don't see.

If you put your boat back on the lift and compared more measurements it might help us all.

No I haven't measured the tongue weight because I haven't been able to set the boat on the trailer due to the fenders being too tall.

I'll remove the fenders and set the boat down and get the tongue weight. Any idea of what the tongue weight should be?

I'll also do some measurement comparisons between the two trailers.

Are you sure that it's a #3 and not a #2? I have a picture posted with 2 easy length/width dimensions to compare to... ill try to dig it up.

Edit: 23rd google image result if you search "#3 #2 trailer dimensions site:correctcraftfan.com"

If you confirm a #3, then the only possible difference would be fender height, I know a few different styles were used. The shorter style might allow the 2001 hull to clear where the taller style (which it looks like you have) would not.

Post some pics of your old trailer for comparison purposes as well.

Thanks for the picture. I will shoot over to the shop at lunch and determine whether I have #2 or #3.

I took some measurements and it's definitely a #3 according to the dimensions that TRBeng gave me. My 1982 trailers differs slightly.

I believe I can use the trailer if I either widen the fender mounting locations, (I can go 2" out while still staying above the tire) or get shorter fenders to let the boat ride over top of the fenders. The bow stop will also need to be moved forward and will only leave me 27" from the stop to the coupler, my trailer now is 36". I'm not sure if that will affect the way it trailers or not, the motor will still be centered over the wheels. thoughts?

I have a couple comparison pictures from Saturday. I was in a rush to get to the river so I just loaded the boat back on the old trailer without getting any detailed pictures. I also noticed there is a couple more round bar braces going from the wheel frame forward on my old trailer.

I thought I had compared the '74 and '83 #3's that I had here at one point, I may have to break out the tape measure again on the '83 to confirm what you're seeing (10" length difference in the front). The dimensions I had posted previously (comparing to a #2) were from a ~71 vintrage #3 and 71 & 78 #2's. Looks like my #3 dimensions match your '78. I thought I had verified my 83 to be the same but maybe I only measured width, as I cannot find my notes. I'll compare my late 2gen trailer (80-81) next time I see it as well. Bunk width and axle track are lining up between your 2, I bet your inside-inside fender dimension would match if you ignored the rubber add ons of the '78 or any fender mounting variation.

I looks like your boat is a 82-83 and I'm assuming the trailer is the same year? I know my 80-81 trailers have had a whole lot of extra tongue on them, sure seems like moving the bowstop forward 10" would be fine and the hull interference is likely to be solved with the shorter fender style- so I bet you can make it work. Sorry if my previous posts led you astray- either I wasn't as thorough in my comparison as i should have been or cc wasn't as consistent in their trailer manufacturing as we assumed.

I measured from steel to steel on the fender widths, I ignored the rubber.

Yes sir, 1982 on the boat and trailer. That is if the registration is actually for this trailer. There's really no telling what previous owners have done.

Thanks for all your help!

On the contrary TRBenj. Your previous posts led me to find a solution other than selling the trailer I just bought! I was pretty bummed when I thought it wouldn't work. Now I just need to either find fenders or modify the ones I have.

I guess I'll sell the black trailer now. I will get pictures posted after I get the trailers swapped .
