For all the gt40 guys out there - it seems a workaround has been found for the lack of replacement ecm's. props to vanhanbr on PN for finding the fix!PN gt40 ecm fix thread

Read that tonight also, very interesting. I do not know much about computer stuff but this does not sound hard to do with the right tools. Vanhanbr has done the hard work.

This is great news as I believe this may get us one step closer to adding HP options to these motors.

That was my thought also. A little tweaking might result in some more HP/torque or both.

Sounds like a done deal.
Quote from PN 6 days ago by Kmarine Just ran the boat on the water with the c1a1 computer and the moates chip with the e290 file. Boat ran excellent. thank you all for your contribution. If it was not for this tread and everyone who shared their expertise we would not have a solution for ecm replacement. Hope this helps many GT40 owners for years to come. Looks to me like a few people put a lot of time, effort and ingenuity into this and came up with something that works as good as the original |

Just fired mine up in the driveway with my ebay c1a1 computer and the moates chip programed with the e290 file. Runs the same and will try a water test later. Thanks to all the guy's on Planet Nautique who figured this all out.

Gary, Did you loose your original ECM on your Super Sport Nautique? It sounds like you are ok now, but that could of been a big problem. Donald |

I guess I could have worded that better Don. No I did not just wanted a spare. Wanted the latest tune, the 300, but some issues were still being had with it. Maybe later I could just have another chip burned when it all works out.

Gary,
Great, I have now seen you post on Planet Nautique. I too would like to get a back-up ECM built for just in case. I too would like to have the latest (2002) tune. I will keep an eye on that thread and look at gathering some parts. Donald |

Gary, what possible tune improvements could there be for my GT40? It already runs like a champion.

From what I have read and confirmed when I opened mine up,ours Pete is marked 290 on the ECM. Later ones are the 300 . According to Tim there was a rolling idle ? that was happening and this newer tune was in answer to that. I have no idea what else was done but given time I'm sure someone will be able to "read" it. I'll post a link when I get to a PC

Yeah some folks report a rolling idle. I've never experienced it but if someone comes up with a replacement that won't break the bank, I'll sock it in my spare parts closet
