Hey Guys
I came across a bunch of CC props recently, and I took them to my buddy Rob the prop guy. I did not want to see them hanging on a wall at Cracker Barrel. He spiffed them up and repaired them. If anyone needs one of these sizes, let me know or call Rob at 863 956 7835. Tom imagejpeg_0 by turninggrey1, on Flickr 20170828_144526 by turninggrey1, on Flickr |

seacamper,
Thanks for the 380! Turns out Rob and I lived close to each other and skied with and knew some of the same people! Small world. |

I'm kinda surprised, thats what I'm running on my gt40 vdrive. Would have thought with that much more hp and torque it would be different.

I don't think that lefty is for a CC. What's the difference between the 422 and a 668?

Stock OJ is a 14x18. The 380 is Acme's recommendation for the Python. I did notice a lot of v-drives run it, I was more surprised they used a 1-1/8" shaft on the GT40. Is your trans a 1.23:1? |

502, did you notice any difference in top end or acceleration between the stock OJ and the 380? I tried a few different props a couple of years ago, and there wasn't a huge difference

My trans is a 1:1 the reduction is in the drive at 1.5:1 and then off to the 1 1/8 shaft. Suspect just the gt40 v drives were the 1 1/8 not sure about th DD's

I don't have it yet so don't know. My guess is it won't be much difference but I hoping it will help me pick up 100 revs . On my Sport I'm getting 4850 and Ski is getting 4950 with the OJ's. what are you seeing on yours? |

All v-drives are 1-1/8". All dd's except for the python are 1". 1.23:1 big block and 1.5:1 small block take the same props... nice mathematical coincidence.

Interesting Tim. Am I wrong or is it safe to say that the hull pretty much determines the prop rather than the power? Seems that way to me anyway,I know there is alot of variables

No, hull is only half the equation. Hull and torque are the 2 main players (force and resistance) in prop selection- gotta balance the 2. The 2 biggest contributors to torque are the size of the engine (cubic inches) and the transmission ratio.

I didn't see a whole lot of difference in acceleration or top end between the stock OJ, 816, 856, and 380. I have the numbers somewhere at home, but it might be quicker if I test them all again. 54.x MPH on the props.

Acceleration is very hard to measure without some sort of reference... either a set of fixed points and an accurate timing system or another boat running side by side to judge comparative performance. I'd bet good money the Acme's out-accelerate the OJ's. Top speed is much easier to judge.

I don't think so, but I just turned a box of props over to Rob. Give him a call and see if he had to repair it. Some of them were dinged.
