Glad a couple Chicago area guys are coming, but unfortunately flying, leaving, so far, no way for Quinner to get down here. Hopefully he will have several more options for catching a ride down.

It also may be hard for him due to his full time job he has now?

After coming to an event or two without my boat, one thing I can say, I was never without a ride. Look forward to it. Will have space in boats.

I wasn't worried about getting rides I know you guys well enough now that you're not going to leave us behind.
I was more or less making a joke about having to work at Greg's to earn my keep for a ride

No Miss PIggy, Donald. More like Bert and Ernie, you know, those two young studs that share a room over Mr. Hooper's store.

Slalom Course Update for Badin Mini -

I am assuming you still want me to bring the course. I went ahead and took that Friday off work.    If you want I can head over that morning and we can drop the course. I am about 15 minutes from you. PM me if you want to discuss outside this thread or just reply here. Looking forward to it.

I like the idea of the course - it would be good if others provided thoughts. If others are not that interested Inwould say the effort may not be worth it. I will be taking Friday off and will be around all day and look forward to the arrival of those who will be arriving on Friday to get this event started.
Let’s connect over the next week (my cell is(704) 506-5905)

Thx

I would love the chance to get beat up in a course. I've skied a course exactly twice in my life, once on a d*ck pope after a binding failure on my actual slalom, haha.

I will get up with you next week. It is not much trouble to drop in. Larry H and I dropped it in this week in about 30 minutes with just the two of us so as long as you can direct me to a good location to put it, we will be good to go. Thanks for hosting.

This course thing, is it for competition tubing or skiing?

I am taking off Friday too and hope to arrive mid morning.

So I am a bit surprised that some of you have not jumped on the pending hurricane to hit NC and the fact that it is ~ 4 weeks ahead of schedule. This could be a good sign for the planned weekend - remember the event goes on with or without a hurricane hitting NC.

It's simple, Florence was not invited.

What is the water status of Badin? High, low, full? Are they doing anything like letting water out in anticipation of all the rain that's being predicted? If so, I'm sure it's a very delicate balance so too much isn't sent down to lower spots where there's lots of rain predicted as well.

I'm sure the power company has been down that road before. Hurricanes are not a rare occurrence in NC. I grew up outside Raleigh and we felt the effects of hurricanes pretty regularly. Basin Lake is about a hundred miles west of Raleigh so it shouldn't be tremendous impact. I'm on Lake Keowee now, controlled by Duke Power and they do not hesitate to release water when conditions warrant. They monitor the water flows 24 7 so flooding should be minimal. Trees will go down and we may lose power briefly. On the coast and midlands it is going to be terrible.
