Wakeskate or surfer

   Wakeskates are more like a large skateboard.The motions are similar to wakeboarding,but it's more technical.Normally ridden on a long line,you don't need much of a wake to have fun on one.
   Wakesurfers are more like a big skimboard/small surfboard.You get up on a shortline and throw it into the boat once you're surfing.Usually you would heavily weight one side of the boat for a nice wave,which side depends on which way you surf and how your boat reacts to weight on that side due to prop rotation,etc.If you understand the mechanics of surfing,you could seemingly ride an endless wave across the lake.
I haven't tried wakesurfing yet,but I've seen friends do it and it looks like fun.
The size/style needed would depend on your size and ability,just like skis or a wakeboard. The manufactures websites usually explain that stuff pretty well.Take a look at CWB Wakeboards or Liquid Forces' site as they sell both surfers and skates.May be some info there that will help.

Those look like similar to the trick skis we used 20 years ago and are collecting dust in the boat house now. d
