Any idea what an original 1970 trailer VIN would look like or be located? I just restored the trailer and never found one. The DMV thinks it was never registered. It came from Cypress Gardens and only 1 other owner that never registered it. I am planning to have it weighed and create a home made trailer registration worst case but i can still create a VIN

Thanks
Marc

My '69 trailer has it just a foot or so down from the hitch- it's an aluminum tag mounted with 4 pop rivets. The first digit tells you what model trailer it is then a space then in my case a 4 digit serial number. Does not look like we can add pictures yet.

WoW, You are correct. I cleaned the paint off it didn't realize there were stamped digits on it.   I can barley read the stamped ones on the bottom.   On top, I can see 7 71 which looks to be the manufacturer date. So the vin must be 3H 831.   That short? Sound about Correct?

Thanks
Marc

Marc,
As Gary mentioned, I'd say what you found is a serial number and not a VIN. The "3H" would be the trailer size and then the serial number. That should work for the DMV. Also, you may find a number stamped into the steel on the bottom near the tongue.
