While redoing my 83, I installed the steering cable to short and needed a extension.Here is what I found: https://www.cpperformance.com/p-26607-5-steering-cable-extension.aspx
Update Due to a long wait on shipping, decided to just remove muffler and cable mount and move back some. Worked fine although the extension would have been a lot less painful
