Hello All, I received a Mustang for a present and my father-in-law and I have been hacking away at putting the basket case back together. We have the major components of the motor assembled, but this is our first inboard, so we are now in the Q & A (hopefully) stage. Questions - I am assuming that the year of the craft is 1967ish - the hull numbers are long gone by a previous rebuild. I found a build date of 3/8/66 on the exhaust manifold. 2) I need to have a better idea of the cooling system, All the parts make sense, but the plumbing arrangement is totally foreign to me. Is there a flow diagram that is available for the motor (Ford, 298, Interceptor exhaust, 2 bbl Holey Carb.) Really looking forward to getting the motor running and the boat in the water prior to the lake freezing. Any and all suggestions are welcome, newbee flaming accepted. Peter in Vermont

Exhaust tubes are great - clean and solid. Next questions is a rebuild kit for the distributor Mallory model YL type 519B.. The local parts stores are no use. Went to a repair shop to no answers. Looking for a new cap, rotor, condenser and points. The suggestion that I received was an update kit to go pointless. Not what I want but a possibility if I can not find the original replacement parts. Any ideas |
