Transom tie downs?

On my Sport I use a strap that goes over the gunwales.

N3 specked out my trailer with the retractable tie downs which are great because I never have to go looking for them. Here you can just see them, they hook on to the swim platform brackets as well.

I use the swim platform brackets on my 95 ski nautique trailer.   I will advise using strong tie straps.  We were in a car accident about 5 miles from our boat launch on the way home, bunks still wet.  When I slammed on the brakes trying to stop both rear straps broke and the boat came forward up and partially over the guide poles and  almost in my rear window on the tow car.  I was going about 45-50 MPH when I slammed on the brakes, was only going about 10 or less when I tapped the car in front.   I now use straps rated at 2,000 pounds each in the rear, and added a tie down chain that goes from the front eye of the boat back to the trailer frame to keep this from ever happening again.  No way to know for sure but I think the boat moved when I hit the brakes not when I hit the car in front of me.  Properly tied down the boat would have had zero damage instead the boat needed repairs, fiberglass damage, my favorite prop was ruined and the trailer was damaged.   4 or 5 deer pulled walked out in front of traffic and stopped causing the traffic snarl but I did hit the car so my fault.  I learned later that my trailer was riding too high in the front which took some weight off the front trailer axle where the brakes are.  The trailer tires were squealing but I was not slowing down quick enough.  A shorter receiver hitch fixed that issue and gave me much better trailer brakes.  2" in height at the trailer ball makes a big difference on the DHM tandem axle trailer brakes by properly loading the front axle.
