As the attachment shows, the original install speedo on my 1965 CC Barracuda flooded and started leaking down the console this weekend. The fix was quick, just crimped the line and leaking stopped. I don’t really know how the speedo works, but I was wondering if someone could tell me what broke? Is it the speedo head itself; or is it that in line tube thing’ey that needs replacing?

Ruptured diaphragm in the speedo itself.

Correct. It can be silver soldered back to new.

So, I pulled the speedo apart and found the diaphragm as you great bunch of guys described. One other question please: Following are pictures of the diaphragm assembly. To separate the diaphragm from the rest of the assembly to solder it, do I unsolder and pull the pin attaching the diaphragm to the upper part, and then just remove the diaphragm from there? Thanks for the help!

I would say pull the clip that looks like a brake hose retaining clip

I think I'd start by pressurizing it with air and finding the leak, then decide if you can fix it without taking it any further apart.

If it has to come apart more then I think like you said, you're gonna have to push that little pin out on the pivot arm and remove the "brake line clip" and do some wigglin' and unbolting.to get it out

It's built a bit different than the 0 to 50  Airguide tournament speedometers so help will be a little tough to find here.
