Don't know if it is nationwide or not but Home Depot in Indiana has -50* RV Antifreeze on sale for $0.88 per gallon. Went out and found 75 gallons and got it. Buddy and I will split it for several projects that we have. Just letting you know. Duane in Indy

75 gallons! Are you winterizing the Queen Mary?  I switched to the -100 stuff for my jet boat, though I've certainly used tons of -50 over the years. That's an amazingly low price! |

OOPS, just did a recount while unloading and ends up being 94 gallons. Use it in the RV's also.
Savings of just over $300.00

I have seen this RV anti Freeze at Walmart but thinking about it I can’t see anything being added to the fresh water system so what is they are protecting in the RV, the black water system? What keeps the fresh water from freezing in that same vehicle? Obviously I do not own an RV at this time. Thanks

Mark, I have switched to the -75 here in Minnesota, do to the testing we did a couple of years ago. Especially in the SN motor. Cant get anything lower that I know of around here. I used to use it in the motorhome and RV trailers to pump through the lines to prevent freezing, and in all the drains and traps eliminate trying to blow out the lines. But my present trailer freshwater lines seem to hang onto the antifreeze smell for a long time in the spring. I have quit doing that and just drain the freshwater lines and blow them out now.

So the fresh water system is filled with antifreeze in the winter and you drink out of it in the spring? That does not sound Kosher but I guess the system has to be protected. Sounds like it should be mandatory that these systems can be fully drained as set up from the factory rather than needing antifreeze in the off season. Well I guess it created a product what works in our boats.

You are correct. I flush my RV system out the best I can in the Spring. So many places that are low and can trap water that some sort of protection is needed. I use compressed air and then purge with RV antifrreeze. Probably not perfect but it seems to be the industry standard. With so many lines that are impossible to get to to repair it just seems logical to do the best I can to protect from a line bursting. I use it in the Correct Craft also.

Not knowing exactly which one was bought, there are food grade anti freezes out there- google it and you'll see many known brands. Then google propylene glycol and see what foods it is also used in,you just might quit eating and drinking.

I'm not an RV person myself, but my friends that have them drink bottled water, not RV tap water. It's not all that hard to flush out the system but there will always be a bit of antifreeze smell for a while, plus who knows the water quality at some of the campsite hookups, so they just bring some gallons of water with them.
