Hello everyone, I just acquired a 1961? Or 62? #245 CC Starflite 18 foot plywood with Dearborn 361 ci 240 hp. My first Correct Craft but my third wooden boat. My question is Does Correct Craft have information such as a build sheet from when these boats were built?

Post some pics. The 17' and larger boats, especially from the 1960's are rare. Does yours have fins and has it been restored? There has been one posted on CCF that was extensively restored about 15 years ago.
We have a 1962 Classic and I was told the records for that time frame were lost. Try PMing Art Cozier. He may be able to help.

Thank you for the reply, Riley. Yes, it's a plywood boat with the Fins, So strange that their Cool.
Definitely a project. The Starflite will be next winter's project. I have a Chris Craft Riviera to finish up first, But I'm trying to educate myself on the Correct Craft such as proper stain color, floor finish, interior colors etc.  |

This site once had the largest collection of Correct Craft Photos in existence, but unfortunately, they were lost.
There was a completely restored one in the diaries at one time. I'll see if I can find a photo of it. There's plenty of people here that can help you with advice.

You are correct 70cc. Big block Ford Fe. Dearborne Interceptor 361 cubic inch 240 hp coupled to a 71B velvet drive.
Right hand prop on the boat so I'm assuming reverse rotation engine. Engine and transmission to be rebuilt. (if the block is any good). I've seen this motor in another Starflite on the internet and it was painted ford blue but appears to me Dearborne used more Greenish blue? I also would like to get reproduction decals for valve covers.   |

Fantastic! Looks fairly clean and complete.
I have a slightly newer version of that motor in my 65 Nautique which now has a 390 block. I think the 71B is fairly rare and has a longer input shaft and different spline than the more common 71C, so takes a unique damper plate which might be hard to find - assuming you want a new one when everything goes back together. If you happen to convert to the 71C, you'll need a different bell housing to accommodate the shorter input shaft. I bought two donor FE Interceptors to complete my project, one had a 71B, so I have some spare parts in case you need anything. -Phil  |

Thank you Phil. Sweet looking boat you have there! Your motor looks like the correct color or very close from what I can tell from a picture.
We are headed to the Mt.Dora boat show Friday. Hope to see some correct crafts there. We are taking a Chris Craft this year but maybe in the future we will be able to take the CC starflite |

I used Duplicolor Alpine Green, available at Napa. There's been some debate on the color, but it's a perfect match to the original paint that was on the transmission and oil pan and dipstick that came with my boat.
Earlier Interceptors, especially those with Y block Fords seem to be more bluish in color. Have fun at Mt Dora!

Here's a link to some Interceptor engine color reading in numerous threads As 70CC mentioned the GM diesel alpine green is a good choice for most people.  Some pictures are missing due to site issues a couple of years ago.
