    Posted: June-18-2024 at 7:59am
Good morning, its been awhile since I have been on the forum. We recently bought a 89 SN and have a question about the fuel system ( I think).
We had it out this weekend and it starts great runs great between 20-30 mph but if you run it all out it will run great for about 2 minutes ( or less ) then cuts out like it ran out of fuel. I talked to Nautique Parts and they thought its a fuel/water separator filter issue. So they recommended Sierra spin on filter. When we bought the boat it had a Quick Fule carb on it. Just wanted to see if anyone has had similar issues and if Iam on the right path.
Thanks
Ryan

Shmutz in the tank pickup, disassemble and you will find it

Your carb is likely not the problem.  Gunk in the tank, clogged vent and anti-siphon valve is where I would start. A spin on fuel filter / water separator is a good idea also.  A fuel pump that is failing also may exhibit those symptoms.

I have actually thought about putting a new fuel pump on just in case factor.
Thanks

I concur, spin on isystem is superior to cartridge

reporting 2 minutes of running hard then fail, suggests that  it likely repeats after rest. The timing of it all says fuel volume from the tank is issue remove the dip tube from its elbow and barb and inspect inside

I might just put fresh fuel lines in the boat. Also, would anybody happen to know how many feet there is?
