Now that there's some funny stuff coming from Jonny, who liked to talk about how hw would go back to his favorite carburetor and distributor on his gt40 if it gave him problems.
So...........why are you wondering about avoiding the engine? There might be a part or 2 that are hard to find new these days. You're not the first one to worry about it, click on the link for some discussion |

If you have the old one, there's a Ford part number stamped into the outer ring, either on the front or on the outside circumference. Sometimes it's hard to see but it'll be there What's that number ? It might be F3JL-6316-BA That's a 4 bolt balancer The F3 says it was first cast in 1993 and the JL says it was for industrial/marine engines. I don't think there's a Ford car or truck that it was used on.so there aren't a lot around and they're hard to find

If you have the old Harmonic Balancer there are two places I know of that rebuild them to brand new condition. Damper Dudes or Damper Doctor, both located in Anderson CA and have been in business over 30 years. They take them apart and install new rubber so they are good for another 30 years.
