It’s getting cold here next week in north Florida and I’m preparing for it.
Ran into a problem with the above strainer model is 18005
I haven’t drained it and cleaned in a couple of years.
I live on spring fed sand bottom lake so not a lot of debris.
I cannot seem to get it disassembled
Any good tool or tips to getting it unscrewed and drained?
Also is it standard direction or reverse?
Thanks all

It rotates in the normal direction, lefty loosie and righty tighty......just like a jar of peanut butter

If you have an oil filter wrench for a Ford filter like what's on your boat (FL-1A, Fram PH8A etc) it fits on your filter just like in the pictures below and should take that thing apart.

My psychic powers seem to tell me that you use a K&N filter with a big nut on the enf, so you may or may not have one of this type wrench  Wink

And.....if nothing gets it off, pull the hoses off and take it in the house

Strap wrench for the strainer bowl usually works well.

I also lube up the gasket and threads with a thin layer of petroleum jelly.  This helps everything go back together well and make the next removal job quite a bit easier.  Those threaded plastic pieces seem to gall at times.

Thanks to all
I got it but had to remove it from the boat and use the oil filter wrench
Thank goodness I have a ton of wrenches from my car racing days
