Switching from a 454 to a 350
Velvet drive tranny
Motor drops on same engine mounts
Transmission mounts will have to be drilled a little bit further to the front. This leaves the prop shaft about 2 inches short from the velvet drive.

Why can't you leave the transmission right where it is, reuse the same prop shaft and redrill the engine mounting holes instead?

In a different boat, I did this when replacing a 454 with a 352w and had very few issues with the swap

Perfect. I will put them out on the engine drop it down mark it , drill it then reinstall it. Appreciate the help with that. Now I just gotta figure out the correct fly wheel for the 350 as my velvet Drive starter mounts from the back on the 454.

You'll need a flywheel with the same 14 inch diameter as your 454 with the ring gear on the bac, to work with the bellhousing and starter you have now..

Sounds easy, but you need to know if your 350 is a newer engine with a 1 piece rear main seal or an older one with a 2 piece seal because they use different flywheels. The engines were balanced differently.so the flywheels were different.

Since you may already have the flywheel off, here's a picture showing what the back of the crankshaft looks like for 1 piece and 2 piece rear main seal engines.

If you don't have it off, now's a good time to take it off, then you'll know for sure Wink

The picture is kinda big for easy viewing.

Great graph and identifier of the SBC. one note though 1996 was the first year of the GM vortec SBC, 8 bolt intake. not sure when marine picked it up.  also there are two versions of the 12 bolt intake that needs identification where the bolt angle changed, i believe that was one of the 85 to 86 differences.

Discount inboard marine has just updated their online reference page. All the old PCM parts books are now listed and available on line at discount inboard marine. these pages will be available on nautique parts soon.
Also a bit of Indmar parts and service manuals available on DIM.
Hobby Boats can be expensive when the hobbyist is limited on their own skill and expertise.

I should know that it was 96 since I have one.

I think the confusing blocks with references to different years are saying the same thing you are about the 85 to 86 ijntake change.

I shoulda just cut half of the picture off since I was only trying to show the seal differences Wink
