Stupid issue - but I need some advice regarding the least amount of damage I'm about to inflict on my boat.
My wife left her digital camera in the storage compartment by the observer seat in my '89. Somehow this has jammed the lid and I've tried every option I can think of to get it out. It has a push button/lock latch on the lid. I do not have a key to lock it, and Midwest CC confirmed that the position of the key hole indicates that it is unlocked. Only 2 thoughts come to mind and I'm not really fond of either. Cut out the bottom from underneath the dash or try and drill through the keyhole (not sure if that would even work and I'd probably destroy our camera in the process). Ideas? |

my first thought was a hammer, can you get to the hinges and unscrew them?

Drill the lock, don't mess with the lid. Locks are easy to replace, lids not so easy.
You won't hurt the camera |

I think "keep it original" Pete might suggest leaving the camera there forever!
drilling seems to be the least destructive action. However, if you could get a hammer claw or wonderbar or some type of prying, you might get lucky and only break the end of the latch. Good luck. |

You prob already tried but, push down firmly on the lid, this will make the catch work easier and it may release,my second thought is to drill a small hole from underneath use a stiff wire to try to move the camera over or out of the way so the latch releases.I had to file my catch down years ago on my 92SN to make the catch work properly
