I'm rebuilding the engine in my '75 Nautique with the reverse rotation 351W. I have the special reverse rotation seal from Skidim for the timing cover. The problem is that someone has installed a sleeve and seal kit. The sleeve is on the harmonic balancer. Is there a reverse rotation sleeve and seal kit available? I guess that the seal for this kit would have a slightly larger opening. I'm guessing that the harmonic balancer might not be smooth under that thin sleeve. Maybe the seal that I have will work? Any thoughts or experiences with this? Thanks

I recently rebuilt my 78 351W and the balancer was rusted and pitted badly. I installed a seal saver sleeve an used a regular automotive seal. it doesnt leak a drop. Hope this helps.

A reverse rotation seal on the timing cover makes no sense. I've done marine work for years and all the seals are the same(good brand). A speedi-sleeve is a good solution to a grooved harmonic balancer. The rear main seal are the same just the knurling in on the crank is different or ommitted.

Speedi-Sleeves are suppose to work great on a harmonic balancer and 1 piece seal crank; however, I have been told that they WILL NOT work on the rear crank of a 2-piece seal?

Is this the case?

You cannot install a speedi-sleeve on the rear cranl seal area witha 2 piece rear main seal because of the flywheel flange

Thanks everyone. I just compared the automotive seal and the special marine reverse rotation seal and the little flutes are oriented in the same direction.
