Some of you know that I have a 2nd home in northern Wis that my wife and kids spend the summer at. (I get to stay home a try to make money!!) Well anyway the kids belong to the same ski club/team that I belonged to as a kid and that was back in 1960! They just got back from going to the state tournament (first time for the club) and I'm told ended up in 1st place division 3. Division 3 is the bottom level but I'm still proud of them. Maybe it was that Tique I bought for them!!

Congrats Pete and family! I know the Tique didn't bring it home for them but I'd try convincing myself it did. You've got to be proud of kids and boat. If I could only teach Boaty and Skipper how to ski. Hell, I wouldn't have to work.

Pete,

Congrats to the family. Clearly it was the Tique, what else could it be?

Thanks for your help on my doghouse/pylon question.

Awesome Pete. I never thought I'd be able to sit in the boat and watch my kids ski without getting my turn. It's a blast. This morning I pulled my 12 year old twin girls on a double slalom run. I just have so much joy and pride watching them back there. Congrats to you and yours!

Congrats Pete,

It's always great to see kids doing something on the water. Dude, I'm with you, I love pulling my kids and their friends; most of the time I don't get much rope time in--but I'm too old anyway.

I thank everyone for the support. Yes it is a great feeling with the kids. It makes you forget some of the other things they have done that I really don't want to remember but I guess that's part of raising kids too!
Reid, With the dogs, I think you are half way there with getting them up behind the boat! They both seem to handle the pool float real well. Put the pool float on top of a aqua plane and get them used to it first. To start I would use a short line off a boom. It works for kids! I remember Twiggy the water sking squirrel. He and his trainer were making the rounds of the reagonal new boat shows giving demonstrations. That had to be 15 to 20 years ago and don't know if they (or Twiggy the 6th) are even still around. He was pulled behind a battery powered radio control boat that I seem to remember was a Nautique. The squirrel would jump on to a small aqua plane with a handle bar on it for his front paws. Reid, is this giving you any ideas? Maybe by next years reunion you will have Boaty and Skipper on a aqua plane!

Pete and Reid - You'll think I'm making this up, but I'm not. My grandfather had a dog (a boxer named "Boots") that waterskied (sort of). He rode an aqua plane like Pete mentioned. I know we've got a picture somewhere to prove it! He (Boots) would also (by himself) just hop on an inner tube (in the water) and just float away out on the lake and he'd get so far away they'd have to go looking for him in the boat. Once when they went out in the boat, they threw the inner tube up in a pine tree near the dock so Boots wouldn't be able to pull his float away stunt, and when they came home, Boots was actually way up in the tree trying to get the inner tube down! Now you know I didn't make that up! It's too crazy!

64 that is hilarious! You're right. Too much funny detail to be made up. Reid, I think you could try one of those sleds Steve had his girls on...

Chris, Thanks! Div. 1 is just insane!!! the people in those clubs are more pro than anything and have a average age between 30 and 40. 5 tier pyamids and tow boats with triple 250's or 300's. Our little club with a average age of around 17 is made up of kids just having fun. Oh, they have a 196 this year and are getting the pyamid up now (problems with the 206 last year) plus they went out and got a whole set of long pyamid skis. I feel they may get to Div. 2 but that's it. It has been a slow process. The club was formally started in 58 so that's 49 years of working on it! Next year we will be having our 50th year reunion.

Congrats Pete. That's awesome.

Speaking of the WI state tourney. Any know who ended up winning Div. 1 and where Badgerland ended up at? I skied with them for 7 years before I moved down here. Nothing posted at USA Waterski yet.

Outstanding Pete. I'm sure this was preceeded by many moments of pride starting with the first time they simply TRIED skiing.

Reid, just replace the wood handle on a Zip Sled with a rawhide chew. With this, I bet the pooches will be easier to train than most kids.

Hmmm...Maybe if I put beanie babies in place of the handle I could even get little kid Alex on it.

This is the result of those years spent with the kids and a darned old boat.If you would have worked harder they could have been something, dropouts or crackheads. You will spend the same money ,just giving it to different people, judges and lawyers, rehab or councilors, you made the right choice Pete.
What a wonderful man for yours to call DAD,I am pleased to have met you .Thanx be to Keith and this site.........boat dr/ boat nurse

I saw the Aqua Devils last Sunday before State and I will say it is the best show in my 28 years they have put on. It is nice to see them take the next step. I know the team has been working hard for this the past couple of years. Congratulations!

Doc, Thanks for the encouragement and coming from yourself it is appreciated. Things haven't been as smooth with the kids as it seems though. My son has learned a few things about life and growing up plus I made him pay for the lawyer!!!

Pete, those words were not that of knowledge from a book or time on a couch. Those were founded in "been there done that"
As far as my son, just like dad,I too fixed too many things, knew the DA and the cops too well, just did not want my son to hurt, so being the GOOD DAD just make IT ALL GO AWAY.
What a bad lesson that this action teaches ,I am not responable for my actions, and if I get caught Dad will fix it.....
Some lessons are hard to unlearn, thanx for sharing your thoughts on the subject.................boat dr

Pete, congratulations. Just skiing at state is a rush. I've been watching our local team for over 12 years and finally able to be a part of it. Hopefully we can continue some show ski talk in the new thread. I'm sure backfoot has lots of stories to contribute.

I saw Twiggy Version XX skiing a few years back at the Indy boat show. It was behind an RC Ski Nautique, 94-96 gel pattern.

My mother always told me "go out and have fun, but don't call me to bail you out!"
