Pylon position

Hey Guys (and Blondie)

Help! I'm getting ready to put the floor back in my '74 mustang. The original pylon has a slight bend in it. I had to have another pylon fabricated. The new pylon does not have a bend in it yet. My question: Does it need to be bent? Does the original pylon come out straight and then bend back over the motor cover? Or does the pylon come out of the floor bent forward and then curve straight up? I need to figure this out so I can set the floor plate on the stringers to reinforce the pylon.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

it comes out straight then a couple of inches above the floor is bent towards the motorbox.

On my 77 mustangs the bend of the pylon matches the angle of the front seatback.If your pylon mount at the bottom where it attaches to the hull is in it's original position it's gong to be kind of tight at the top unless you do something with the front seat. Farmer

You know how it goes. I've been doing everything but working on this boat, at least until the last week. I just got the uphostery back and it looks great. That kind of re-motivated me to get in gear and get it done. The stringers are all in and It's foamed, need to start the floor. I'm sure yours is all done. I'd love to see the pics of the completed boat. If they're on here, I missed em.
