I feel we all know someone who would benefit from one of these! It would pull a double deck trailer real nice.

Has anyone ever driven a CXT?

Man, really nice rigs out here guys!
I love my tow vehicle, but I am kinda jealous of your trailers. Due to restrictions here, we are not allowed to have that kind of trailer...

Well you may have trailer envy but I think you are holding your own as far as your tow vehicle is concerned.

Hey Ski Bum; Guys in your unit using BMW's as tow vehicles!? Those Belgium Tankers must get paid pretty well!

Kristoff,
I had noticed your tow vehicle in your diary listing. Pretty cool!
I don't think you'll see many Nautiques in the states being pulled with a beamer!
I had also noticed that intersesting trailer. What's the story behind that? Why can't you use a normal CC trailer?

Kristof,
What year and model is your 5? How do you like it?
I'm looking to upgrade my 2002 540 for a 2007 550.

Not as my tow vehicle, however.

Well boys...

My beamer is a 2005. 177 HP, 2500 CC diesel engine, so it's a 525D Touring model. In Europe, most vehicles run on diesel eh... (bigger mileage and little cheaper than gas).
I bloody hell love that machine!! Rode 240 km/h (149,5 MPH) just two hours ago... Let me put it this way: it flies!!!

The story behind the trailers here is that we have a lot of restrictions (like wheelbase or breaking system for example). The main issue with a CC trailer is that the wheel base is too large according to the law... BS in my opinion, cause my trailer is somewhat 10 cm (0,39 inch) smaller than an "American" trailer.

Pretty nice! Boy would this look nice towing my Nautique!

2008 Tahoe Hybrid
6200 lbs towing capacity w/ the 4WD
20 MPG Avg.
A little better MPG than my Expy's 13 now.
But then again, I can buy a lotta gas by not having a $50,000 + Note!
I'd take a hard look at it if I was in the market though!

Nauti84,

I like the looks and concept as well. Haven't researched it yet, but I believe the Hybrid is being offered for Tahoe, Yukon, and Escalade. Any idea if they will put the Hybrid in the Suburban/Yukon XL?

I'm thinking about 90% chance I'll replace my Yukon XL with a Hybrid Yukon or Tahoe.

I would like to drive one, and I'll probably wait a year to see 1) what issues they might have with the hybrids, and 2) what hybrids the competition might bring forward.

Im pretty sure the Escalade wont get the hybrid option for another year. I havent heard if theyre offering the powertrain for the extended wheelbase rigs or not.

I could be wrong- but I thought my latest Motor Trend said the Escalade was getting it later than the others. I only skimmed the article, though.

Brian, Are you attempting to be "green"? Consumer Reports did a very interesting article on the hybrids.

If you haven't already, you guys should watch the documentary "Who killed the electric car?". I Netflixed it last weekend and was blown away by it. Very interesting and well-composed documentary for sure.

I don't know. Maybe.

I'm in sales. I need a decent car. I like big cars, and actually prefer to drive a truck or SVU. I average 35K miles per year.

If I can find one that gets better mileage (particularly at $3.29 a gallon which I paid today), can occasionally pull a boat if I want to, has 4WD for our trips to the mountains, and is comfortable on my aching back, then I guess being "green" is just an added bonus. BKH

Brian, I don't what you to think I'm against large SUV's. I drive a 95 diesel Suburban myself. I only brought up the "green" thing because there are so many people out there that think they are doing the planet a favor when they buy a hybrid and they really aren't. With todays technology, the "cradle to grave" natural resources (including recycling) needed to manufacture them are more than what they save in fuel. Besides the complexity of the drive trains, the batteries are the biggest problem. Hopefully one of these days the battery technology will change.

Pete,
People buy them because of the gas savings.. That's the only "Green" they see... They have no idea what impact they have on the enviornment long term, at least most people don't....

I hear you Pete. The reality is more about how much I pay in gas each week. As for the perception, again, I'm in sales - if some of my California clients want to think I'm saving the earth, that's great too. In California, certain Hybrids (those that get 45 or 50 mpg, I think only Civic and Prius qualify) are also allowed to drive in the carpool lane, and can pass through the toll bridges without charge during commute hours.

There is an argument to be made that even if we aren't saving the planet, we do a lot for our air quality here in CA when we burn less gasoline. BKH

The $3.25 for a gal. sounds good to me. I just paid $3.79 a gal. for diesel! The bio diesel is about .20 more. It happens this time of the year when the northeast is using all the home heating oil. Bruce, do you have your thermostat turned up again?!! My only salvation is that I know the diesel gets better millage than if I had the gas.

Stop complaining about the diesel or gas prices over there...!
The price went up here again (third time in a month).

Our current prices in Belgium:
Diesel:     1,226 euro/liter or $6,88/gal
Gas:        1,520 euro/liter or $8,59/gal
Home oil: 0,767 euro/liter or $4,31/gal
LPG:       0,582 euro/liter or $3,27/gal

Driving a nice V8 engine here is "mucho" expensive
Hell, heating your house is expensive!

But then again... the oil price has risen over a hundred dollars per barrel...
