I'm struggling with finding an idea for seat mounts for replacement seats for my boats. Neither boat had factory seats and I am clueless on a suitable "cool" design for a seat mount. Storage area is in short supply so I would like to have storage under the rider's seat and the battery is under the driver's seat.

I came across these pics and I really like the solid and simple look of the frame under these seats. My thanks to the unknown owner of this boat. I hope you don't mind me hyjacking these photos.

Does anyone recognize these seat mounts? Can they be purchased somewhere? Does anyone recognize the fastener that is shown?

Jim,
I don't know where to find them but they look to be the same ones that are in my 78' nautique. I assume they are factory. Mine are slotted so that they can be adjusted from front to back, they have a track up under the part you see in the picture, you loosen the knobs and slide it.

Jim:

Yes, those are factory CC mounts. I suggest you upgrade the drivers seat to mid 80's "2001" adjustable style. Go to CC and purchase the fiberglass seat base and bolt it to the floor. Also purchase two adjustable seat slides to bolt to the bottom of your flat bottom drivers seat of choice. Bolt this to the seat base and presto you will have an adjustable drivers seat.

I suppose you could do the same for a rear or forward facing observers seat.

For the rear bench, just make a wood framed plywood bench that fits snuggly between the sides of the boat. The backrest can merely be an upholstered sheet of plywood that extends from the top of the lower cushion to just above the rear deck. If your panel that covers the tank area extends just above the rear deck, then run two screws through this to hold the seat back. The seat bottom can just be held in place by friction so it is easy to remove for skiing or cleaning.

Hope this helps.

When I replaced my floor several years ago, I put stainless steele bolts up from the bottom through the floor and use wing nuts so I can remove the front seats, the only downside is the bolts sticking up. I never did cut them off so that they were just long enough to work. I guess you could find some large nobs similar to those in the photos and weld a nut to a small piece of metal and attach the metal to the floor (under the carpet) with screws and have a small hole through the floor for the stud on the nob.
