Last night was a Detroit Sporgy. I set up my bar for just such a night. I had the Tigers beating up on the Yankees on one monitor, and the Pistons, hammering the Sixers on the other. Luckily, the Stones were kicking so much a$$, I could switch over to the Wings game without worry. Holy S... is Franzen a beast! Two hat tricks in the playoffs, so far! I didn't pay attention for about 3 minutes at the end of the first and it went from 1-1, to 3-1 in a flash. I dozed off for a bit and it was 6-1. I'm glad we can cheer for the same team, but when college football starts, to steal a phrase from Marcelous Wallace (Pulp Fiction), "there ain't no you and me " btw, I HATE CALC! Steve |

I'm a huge San Jose Sharks fan......... too bad they are against the ropes right now with the Dallas Stars. Would love to see the Sharks against the Wings. Looks like it will be Dallas, unless San Jose can become only the 3rd team in history to win a 7 game series after being down 3-0.

I attended Michigan State, but my son just finished up his first year at The University of Michigan. When the money is flowing towards a college, one becomes a fan quick. A good friend of mine attended that school in Columbus, so we have a good time with that. Regarding calculus. I feel for you man. The first time I sat in differential equations (calc IV), I thought I was in a foriegn language class. I'm 45 now, but I still have nightmares about that class, but in my nightmares, I'm naked. Good luck, don't mean to scare you. Steve |

hahaha, the final looked like a foreign language to me. Not missing a class all semester, then taking the final...i feel like i could have not shown up to a single class & been in the same situation..ehhhh
well sir, we once again are on the same team during college football season, I'm near Toledo, Ohio which is only about 45 mins from the great Ann Arbor, whereas im about 2 hrs from Colonbus...(that's the reasoning i give to everyone for being a UM fan)so yes, Go Blue! haha Nate |

We hit every UofM home game. If you happen to come up for a game, let me know. We always have a great tailgate, plenty of food and ginger ales BTW, I thinks us Detroiters are getting used to this playoff stuff. There are still tickets for the Stones game tomorrow, and it is not hard to get Wing's playoff tickets. I can't understand it. Steve |

yeah, i've been toying with the idea of getting to a wings playoff game but I think the prices are the biggest killer for most of the people up there...though, if they get to the finals...I have a feeling ill be digging deep, trying to get to a finals game...
& yes, im gonna have to take you up on a little tailgating action next season, I normally get up to a couple everyseason (osu & minn. games this past season) Nate |

OUCH Kurt, that hurt
Why do you say that? This team is made up of guys that where not brought in as big money guys, they just developed (Zetterburg, Datsuk, Holmstrom) This Franzen kid (9 goals against our friends, the Avalanche), I don't know his backround. Chelios is old enough to be Hollywoods dad. And Ozzie is our "back-up" goalie. I have a biased opinion, but what makes the Wings look like the Spankees? Nate, Let me know if your coming up for Hockey or UofM Football. BTW, I saw you play Lacrosse. Both my son's play Lacrosse. One of the most badass sports I've seen. Here in Michigan, it's growing like mad. We're heading to a tournament tomorrow. Steve |

uhhhhh, that's the #1 thing that annoys me when people talk about the Red Wings, as they are obviously a 100% better organization than the Yankees. Tull touched on things a bit, but here's a quick rundown of some of the roster....
Datsyuk- 6th Round 171sr Overall Draper- Bought from Winnipeg in '93 for $1 (yes that's correct...$1) Franzen- 3rd Round 97th Overall Holmstrom- 10th Round 257th Overall Osgood- 3rd Round 54th Overall Zetterberg- 7th Round 210th Overall Just a small sample, but you get the idea...The Red Wings don't just go out & buy their players (not many can in the NHL anymore), they have an amazing scouting squad and a great farm program... In Conclusion: Red Wings> Yankees Sorry for the rant, but I Had to... Yeah Tull I played lacrosse all through highschool, we we're the first team In NW Ohio(only thus far to get the the state championship) Since most of the best teams are from the Cleveland & Columbus areas. Sweet Sport though for sure, awesome to play & great to watch too! Nate |

Nate,
Well said. I forgot about Drape's You boys better not be knocking Bocci and Jarts. Any game we can play in the back yard, with friends, near the boats, with beer in hand, is alright with me. Steve |

I am not referring directly to the Wings lineup of today. A few years back they did just go out and buy players. Also, being from Chicago you just don't become a wings fan, as you don't become a St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Bottom line, Pittsburgh this year... and I hope they beat the wings, like they beat the hawks back in the early 90s |

I agree that a few years ago, they did "buy" a team like the Yankees do. But the current team has been developed. I'll put my money on the Wings this year. Steve |

They came back with a good old fashioned a$$ woopin yesterday. It's going to be great to watch the Wings vs Sid the Kid.
Not a bad time to be a sports fan in Detroit. Although the Tigers almost blew a 12-4 lead just now. Steve |
