Would any of you CCFans be interested in these signs made up on a smaller scale? Say 1'X 3',2'X 4', 3' X 5' ????
I deliever to a plastic forming place,Hoffman Plasti-Form,here in High Point,NC.Thay make all the BK,Pizza Hut,KFC,etc.,signs. If anyone is up for it, I will ask what they could do on these, and see what we can come up with. Of course, you would have to put your own light in it, maybe build a wood frame, or I can see if they can enclose it completely in the back except for a light. Let me know and in the meantime I'll ask them about this project. I go to 3 different places like this so I might let them compete for the contract. |

That is a pretty cool idea. I'd be interested.
The smaller 12"x36" or so makes more sense to me. That size would work in the garage, office or above the head board. Newer logos might be cool too. I'd go for a Air/Nautiques also. |

These signs are made by first screen printing the graphic, then vacuum forming the plastic. They would probably charge in excess of $500 in screens alone for a 2-3 color trap style graphic. Just keep this in mind...
Now comes the press dies to form the plastic in the size you want.. Uhmmm can you say $$$$$$$ Perhaps you want to ask the guy if he has dies that are close to what you're looking for size wise, and then create your graphic around it. To make it more attractive to the maker, i'd solidify on one or two and have a couple of guys for each, or you're going to pay through the nose as "one-offs"... I sold printing presses to sign makers like this.. Old technology, but it still produces some cool signs.... Moj' |

I was thinking of the older Air Nautiques logo
Since these probably wouldn't be used in a lamp fixture and none of the graphic elements are raised, how about printing them on flat plastic? Would save quite a bit of money in labor and tooling. |

Hey Pauly,
Was just at Zmans last night and mentioned that I need the artwork. We will get them done this winter. Both decals and shirts. As far as the signs, I really like the old style ones a lot. I have my big 502 mile post sign in my shop already. Mike |

Pauly, he is a member, just not too active. He has a lot going on with his Ducati's and his 280Z project.
I just need to get the artwork from him and we can do what we want with them. Figure just pop a few option on Cafepress, order some stuff, and then pull them off. Big Python representation !! |

He is resto-modding a beautiful late 70's Datsun 280Z. That is part of how he got the name the Zman. He had like a dozen of these cars back in his youth. Has been working on it for about a year. It is just about to go to paint. Super cool car.

That is a really cool and unique car! I hope that it turns out the way he wants. I can't wait to see some updates on your 1968! How bad was the foam? |

Pauly,
It will. He is pretty much done except for paint. The foam was terrible. 15 bags 400+ lbs, maybe as bad as 500. Stringers are really bad in a couple spots. Bad in most. Good nowhere. Going to start on the replacing them in a few weeks. I will keep bugging Z about the artwork. |

OK guys. When I first mentioned this to the owner,I told her I was in no hurry on this. I did a delievery today and as soon as she saw me she said oh no,you were wanting me to get you some figures. I told her that still no hurry. She says it's been really busy, and she'll try to get me some quotes soon. I told her just to let me know whenever. So that's where I'm at on this. Hopefully it won't be too bad. She said that if I could get a sizeable amount of orders after she does the figures, she might not charge for the template. So I haven't forgotten about this.
Thanks, Marty |

I'll take one of the classic versions you posted. I would prefer the blue one but either would be cool. Price matters let us know.
Thanks for the effort! |

Hey guys. She came back with some figures! I'm working it out with her on something though. Guys go measure where you would put one of these signs and get back to me on the measurements. I told her a 2foot X 3foot at first. I think that would be a little big. How about a 1 foot X 3 foot---- or 15 inches by 36 inches. This smaller version would be considerably cheaper. It would be a flat acrylic panel and then you would have to build your own frame or box with a light in it,not unless some of you guys that are woodworkers would build them. I'll get back to you when she comes up with the new figures. How many items to order? Start chime-ing in with if you'll want to get one.

Show me the Barefoot Logo and we'll see what we can do. Also get some of your 'Barefootin' Fans to say if the price is right that they'll order one!

Marty,
One of these sure would look great in my new shop and I've been thinking about it but, a few things are coming to mind. First, this isn't ment to criticize the idea because it sure is great and the same with your efforts promoting CC. Its obvious that everyone wants a different sign and even different sizes. Considering your shop is now talking about a flat panel and we would need to build our own frames, each person may be better off just sticking their own decals onto their own acrylic. Since these signs would most likely be interiors, even the cheap "off the home computer/printer" decals would work. |
