Sure its normal to lost things in the water..but this weekend waters swallowed a nice piece of Rayban Aviators that belonged to my mother. She bought them back in the late 80´s and I took them from her say 10 years ago..so they had quite emotional value!!! It think those were the sun glasses that lasted the long before loosing them....plus they were original BL USA made!!!
Now you can get them but made in Italy, and have to be carefull were to buy them as lots of fakes going around!!!!

Sebastian, I feel your pain my friend. I've have a pair of Aviators on the bottom of my favorite lake too. Okie is right, buy the cheapo's you'll hang on to those forever. I'm still on the same pair. Going 3 years strong now.

My sunglasses from Serengetti are on the bottom of the Maas... Lost them the week after you stayed with us... By now they must have drifted of till Rotterdam LOL

(Damn, I really liked those sunglasses!)

The thing this was the second set of RB I´ve lost in 2 years..
other item I lost: 2 cell phones...lots of fat sacs plugs...gas tank cap (almost is it went down at the marina and I was able to dive it and get it back from the muddy bottom)
at lots of other stuff...

Standing there watching stuff sink just makes you sick, doesn't it?

I've always worn Bolle glasses and have had about 5 pairs of Orvet style ones and am currently on a pair of crystal blue Cane Brakes. I think I must have been in the lake at least once after each pair!

I no have a pair of these that live on the boat



They are surprisingly good to wear, always raise a smile and I'm not bothered if they go over the side.

Tag F1 that I got for my 21st off my parents, it's 16 years old and has hardly been off my wrist in that time. A quality timepiece that looks as good now as it did then. I was getting back into the boat and caught it on the platform edge. I felt it go and, by some freakish good luck, when I'd been riding I'd fogotten to put my vest on, so I managed to dive down after it and get it back - I've never swum so fast straight down! The bit of the lake we usually ride in is over 200 feet deep, so it would definitely have been bye-bye Tag if I hadn't caught it up!

$129 is a drop in the bucket for us prescription guys. The first two CCF reunions at GL I attended I lost a pair of glasses in the drink each year. 07 was sunglasses, 08 was regular glasses.

Losing thing in the drink is not uncommon here either...

Lost a nice divers watch (I was 13 or 14 at the time), and just a couple of years ago, my son dove into the water (100+ ft deep) with his glasses on. There's a 30 lb striper bass with a pair of Kasey Kahne glasses lurking...

He was so worried about telling me what happened when I got back to the boat, but I shrugged it off. Nothing I could do about it, and getting angry wasn't going to help the situation. Result: he's very careful with his glasses now!! One of those life lessons.

Oh, and plenty of wrenches and sockets lost in Sandusky Bay putting in the dock for our ski club... jbear, remember those cold days with Jim E and me in the water???

I talked to a guy in TN who lost a Rolex while tubing. Same day, the distributor shaft on his I/O broke. What a streak of bad luck, but served him right for wearing his Rolex while tubing. He was going to see if he could hire a scuba diver to try to find it, but I never heard the result. Common sense isn't too common!!

What things have other's lost? Besides props & rudders, there has to be a ton of stories out there.

I bought Blake a fishing pole/reel combo for his birthday. Got it all rigged up and went down on the dock to try it out. First cast seemed fine. Explained to him about holding the button while you swing until your ready to let the line go..... like this.... casted and the reel exploded into pieces and went swimming. I was Bullshot, Blake was ok with it. I took him right to the store and replaced it because I felt so bad. I was able to retrieve most of the pieces diving early in the morning the next day. Wrote to Daiwa and told them the story and they sent me the parts that I couldn't find. I

Got no idea how many tool sets I threw away that were only missing the 1/2 & 9/16 sockets! Your Dad used to make us tie a string on the open end wrenches and tie the loose end to our suits.

Jim E....the footin' dentist. Been a long while since I thought of him. Man could he foot...huh? Wonder whatever happened to some of the other families from that era.

Shallow it was and is. The rocks were marked but you still had to be careful. I know of a couple of boats that got into them, my bro's being one. He was not driving it, me neither, fortunatly. Worse problem east of the old 2 lane RT2 bridge that went thru Bayveiw. Un-marked rock walls over there.

BTW: What in heck are you doing up at 4:25am and posting? If you wake up that early don't you just roll over and get closer to the Mrs?
