Why is it all the older CC lean to the right when parked at at a dock? Our Mustangs lean some, but not a pronouced as the ones pior to 1974. I noticed the gas tank favors the right, but wouldnt they make it lean to the left a bit so when the driver is alone its somewhat straight?

I think the battery was usually on the right
as well contributing to the leaning. So far
as I know, one of the reasons for the counter
rotation of the motor is to offset the lean
to the right so the boat rides level. Interested to see other thoughts.

I weigh 140lbs and driving alone the thing still leans a fair amount even under heavy power. But the late 60's Skylarks, Mustangs are the worst being inches off at the dock (at least the ones Ive seen).

A lot of lakes slope that way...makes your boat lean

I can't say I have ever noticed mine doing that...72 mustang. My battery is in the center. I guess if the battery was on the right side and the starter too..plus gauges, stearing wheel...contol etc...it could list a bit that way

Maybe mine looks strieght because I list to the left!

Mine leans to the right. I just pulled it out of the water today, after about 10 days, to clean the scum off the bottom and the scum line is about 2" higher above the right exhaust pipe than above the left. I think it is because the battery is under my driver's seat. The starter is also on the right side of the engine. The stearing wheel, helm control, throttle control, throttle cable, and rudder cable are also on the right side of the boat.. I read the topic and thought this was going to be a political post.

Well, politically I'm down the middle of the road; this gives me a chance to criticize both parties.
However, my 69 Nautique leans to the right also, the battery is under the driver seat, and as Jim said, the starter, alternator, and cables all are on the right. My gas tank is centered. Under power I don't notice any lean.
By the way, I just put on the ACME 540 prop, and the little boat's hole shot is now on the verge of amazing.

When speaking to ACME I was advised to buy the 540 prop with 80% cup. I keep trying to move buying a prop up the priority scale I just can't get it all the way to the top of the list.

You got it. I keep the cooler, a small white Igloo marine cooler, right behind the passenger seat. (Even my cooler is Marine Duty rated.)

My 79 sits level but with me in it under load by myself it leans quite a bit.

now I was wondering about this too, but felt dumb asking (I did NOT want to hear "hey your foam is water logged and your boat is a POS!) Tonight, I was in the water with the boy, and it was perfectly calm and the boat was level as could be, But while skiing, it looked as if there was a pretty large spray coming off the right side. I guess its normal, eh? My rudder is bent pretty good, and I thought that contributed to the wierd wake spray. On a side note, I was chased down by a guy in a small aluminium outboard, asking me all about my '80. Seems he has a place on our lake and an '01 sport Nautique, but nobody to ski with. It was kinda cool. He said "I have seen you out a couple times now". Funny how people who know good boats notice good boats. Im sure if I had a brand X we would have never met.
