In looking through the diaries, I see a number of 60s Mustangs with a small additional deck vent on top of the molded in vent on the front deck. I'm pretty sure this isnt a factory thing, but at the same time, it is on a number of boats. Why would a bunch of different people make this same modification and what purpose did it serve, not already accomplished by the larger molded in vent. Just curious.

It looks like '67 Mustangs were the first year with the twin molded in vents. My '66 has the single chrome scoop which most of the one's you're refering to have on top of the molded ones. But I think there's one '66 with the molded vents in the diaries. A very knowledgable mechanic at a marina told be me CC didn't make mustangs in '65, he said mine had to be a '66. The reason I asked him is because the block was a '64 and the heads are '65 castings. He said back then the bought leftover blocks and converted them to save money. One day I'm going to email CC and see what info they can give me providing them the serial number. Another thing I've noticed is a friend of mine has a '66 CC American Skier, and his hull, motor are the same as mine, except for the bench front seat but on top where my boat dips in his bulges out and where mine bulges out his dips in, like an opposite casting.

The top chrome metal scoop has a hose that runs into the bilge area. The fiberglass scoop vents the under dash area. The boat came from the factory this way.

Hey Tim,
I'd suggest just calling Correct Craft. You can get their phone number from their Web site. I gave the guy who took my call the serial number on our boat, he put me on hold and in about two minutes he came back with the exact day it rolled off the line in Florida. |
