    Posted: March-01-2013 at 1:04pm
Had this on my mind for a while....so gave it a go....It works fine and best run on defrost as full power makes steam in the middle of the wood and cracks it, I have tried some old SN stringer in it and has dried it too with old glass still on ,best to leave the room once it’s started a and let it run, this is not for everyone as its very low on health and safety, I found the surface moisture content went up as it pushed the moisture out, will need to be left to cool and adding paper towels soaks up the moisture and don’t overdo it as you can burn the wood.
If you are drying old glassed stringers in a boat you will need steam/vent holes drilled through the old glass, as to how many that would be a judgment call as you work along it.
This may be of use to those that just need to repair a part of the stringers when fitting a new floor....you will still need to remove the old foam to.....this could be a option to extend the full stringer repair for a few more seasons.
To do the conversion on this type took less than a hour , remove front glass, unscrew the case/base which will let you swing round the bottom and unscrew the turntable motor/unplug......reassemble and mark out your slot and cut out with a 4’1/2in grinder, you may need to offset your slot if using in a boat to fit between the stringers, then use steel plates taped on the front and back to fill holes around the wood/stringer you are drying, you must do this to keep the waves bouncing around inside the box, I found all the power/wave maker on this oven are on one side so easy to mod.
As I said don’t sit/lay on it as it working or stay in the boat....just let it run on its timer.
Once your happy with the moisture level in your wood (buying a cheap moisture meter helps) heat again (warm only) and then CEPS so as it cools it should be sucked in deeper into the wood.
I have called the conversion a Dinford CCF #8200 as in the US sitcom Home Improvements as I don’t think we can use there name of tools. This is not covered with any safety features so you need to use common sense as its all at your own risk.

I'm done on all that R&D now spent far to long....now need to do the merchandise, hats & Tee's .....the logo is a plaster ( band aid I think you guys call it) with Dinford # CCF 8200 sharpie on.

Maybe a short slogan...... "If its not got Dinford on it,Its made by someone else"

Did you break out the Geiger meter or just wear the tin foil hat while you did that?

I like the idea, but it depends on the condition of the stringers and if they are too far gone you used up some of the epoxy money.

I think a proper model number for this unit would be: Dinford CCF #2001.
