Nice work Wayne and good for them. Pretty impressive at that age.

Thanks! 16 mph.
Thanks Larry. I love it because it something we all do together; everyone is trying something new and progressing from Dad on down to the little ones (Mom likes to drive). The very best part is that no one asks to go tubing anymore. |

Today I pulled out the ski I used in 1970 when I was my daughter's age, and made her take a ride. Needless to say, she has a new found appreciation for her modern gear. BKH

Saw the posts about the "Disc Ski" a while back here on the forum so I got out the jigsaw and sander and made my own. Kids had a blast on it for the first time on the 4th. Ages are 9 and 14 (couldn't convince the 12yr old to get on it)

In that last picture it looks like you got some pretty good speed. Looks like they had lots of fun!
I have a CC fan etiquette question - if you have a disk, but you cut a hole in the middle of it, does it get classified as a tube? |

Yes sir - that is my daughter and the first to give it a go - the throttle man was trying to figure things out as well I do have one admission and this is not behind a CC - my profile pic is still of the old boat which I have regretfully parted with - as everyone knows kids don't stay the same size for long and a family of 5 outgrew the mustang very quickly. Should have kept it but.... regret!!! regret!!! regret!!! We still dream of getting another CC, but until then we will ride in a 1994 Regal BR and I still check CCF often to keep the CC addiction alive |

Great updates, everyone!
Still haven't convinced my 3 year old to try the skis behind the boat, but she did request her own handle on the disc the other day. One step closer! |

Looking good! maybe a good next step is a ski skimmer. Like the disc, it is super easy and resembles skis. My kids loved it. I would just let them off of the platform form and feed the line out and talk them through it. |

Quite a few first timers behind our boat this weekend, buddy's daughters age 8 & 10, first try - up and skiing for both girls, caught on immediately and skied well!! My daughter Maddie skied alongside and provided the up-close and personal coaching. No pics as I was busy driving and providing the distant coaching.
Sunday we had (3) of Maddie's friends out for wakeboarding, all 16 and first timers. First girl did great, couple try's and she had it. next (2) were not quite as proficient, lol, probably 20+ tries each, lot's of circling and "stay in your squat longer", "don't pull in on the handle", point your toes at the boat", etc. etc.. eventually got them all on the water riding though :). Maddie again skied/coached alongside and was a real trooper!! Great weekend and all the girls were pumped about what they had accomplished, awesome!! |

You guys are making me jealous. My kids are getting too grown up. They like to go ski with their friends and I have taught all of the friends to ski. I did such a good job, I lost my job!
I sure do miss the seeing the excitement on the faces when they get up. Hopefully it will be a long time before I am teaching grandkids! |

Does she wakeboard with the learning skier because it's easier due to the low speeds, or just because it's her preference over skis? I go on some huge combo skis that we have, they will get me out of the water at pretty low speed, but seeing Maddie on the board makes me wonder if that's a better idea.

Actually David I suggested the ski's and she wanted to wake, in the end she said she should have done the skis as it was pretty slow for the board, like 13-15iirc, just made her work a little harder which is always a good thing for any teenage girl!!

Not exactly a little kid, but still a first timer. My mid 30s nephew wanted to learn to barefoot. Last summer he had no trouble tumbling up on the boom. A few weeks ago he went to the short line. Lots of attempts and a lot of hard spills but no success. This past weekend he gave it another go. Several tries into the morning, he got in a good run.

My six year old girl (pictured above on on the slalom ski) asked about learning to barefoot. I told her Dad needs to learn a little more...

Great stuff...... Mark,. I have 3 pair so if ya need to borrow 3 sets for the family pic.....we can do it!
Brian, I know that you were worried a couple years ago that Daddy's little girl wasn't gonna do the watersports thing behind the boat......I think those worries are long gone! |

Seeing these pictures of kids a few years younger than me make me sad that I can't Barefoot or Slalom ski yet. Hopefully this week I can try.

Man what a weekend!
4 kids on skies in my book translates into 4 tubers less... We got Jensen (whos birthday was Saturday) up on the boom, then short line and then long line within 24 hrs! Then we got one of Gabriel's class mates up on the boom His older brother went from afraid of swimming to skis (peer preassure...) One additional girll got up, no pics thou Then Gabe started showboating...long line with out the skies together and then slalom on the boom The he tried the wakeskate for the first time (soon he'll beat me at all that stuff...) And I know the boom is low.... normally it's the right height but all kids, including some parents wanted to be close to the action and would not stay on their assigned seats... |

Ha, these are what I learned to ski on when 3. I'm trying to track them down, kinda cool to teach my little one on the same skis and boat as me.

Is 3 days old too early to get them prepared for the water?
