And peeing in the bilge is OK if you don’t want to get in the water?

Thanks Bruce, a kindred spirit. Us northern New Englanders have our priorities in the right place!!!

Let me add you could end up boating by yourself anyway, but not for long.

You have very valid points Bruce. Its just stuff. We've all met 'those people' who take it too far and they are no fun to be around and they loose out.
Looking back I havn't stressed about my boat within wide reason. Chinese food during an evening blub is a common treat, for instance
Picked the replacement carpet color to match my dog.   I like brown boats because the hull staining is a non issue. But that said it also started as a tub that was ready for the trash heap.

However a cherry TS1 could be a different issue for others, and if it is for him, i respect that. and even if its a clapped out tub, be respected by guests if he chooses and can convey that in a respectful, benevolent but firm manner, these are the rules. Like dip your feet or whatever one chooses. If shaming to lighten up occurs at every level and anything goes, it can open the door to further manipulations.

The crux of my point is 'whatever makes them happy' can become insatiable in this day and age, and is an incomplete solution can be abused and has long term consequences that should be considered. One can have personal boundaries stepped on until one is no longer permitted standards of expected conduct or behavior.

Its not a hill do die on, but one needs a hill to stand firm on, just what hill will one choose..
one has to have a hill

Cheezy poofs in the boat to make her happy can quickly descend into frakking the fire chief to make herself happy then you loose 80% of what you acquired by divorce rape and start over at 50, heh, ask me how i know.

"There is nothing, absolutely nothing, half so much worthwhile as messing around with boats...simply messing."

Good Lord, that is one heck of a steep slope, but I do draw the line on dogs, and Chinese Food, although that is one I never even thought of.

Well that turned serious all of a sudden. I don't think it's a slippery slope at all, if I let my kids eat pizza I don't think they will be smoking crack on the boat the next day. "Further manipulations" is just taking all of this too seriously. I DO totally respect someone's right to have whatever rules they want, have just been kidding around. If I listed half the stuff we've done over the years, most particularly in my 20's, in the '63 some people would be shocked, in hindsight we beat up on the boat. But, the memories and fun mean everything to me, I got together with some college buddies and they were saying what great memories they had of being on "The Vice Boat". That was their nickname because they thought the blue was right out of a Miami Vice episode. No list of do's and don't's that they had to read before getting aboard.

Kids have do’s and don’ts do they not? Doesn’t matter if they are at home, church, school, car, boat.

I have enough trouble getting my wife to take her shoes off before she gets on. I think I convinced her when I mentioned ordering a new set of skins for when she blows through the front bow pad.

Holy Cow! Just revisiting my post now. Will respectfully take all the feedback from you all! As I mentioned, this isn’t a Hill to die on. Will invest in some solid cleaning products and let it roll. Just saying cheesy products and Nautique interior don’t make a good combination. Prefer nuts and grapes :) Game on. Ken

Hollywood, leave it up to you to take it deep! If you’ve still got your ‘88 I’d be eating a three course meal on your boat 😁💩

I encourage all to help keep my boat clean. It is important to me.
I keep almonds on board for snacks and it bugs me when people bring chips on board as the snack of choice, you can't eat chips without the greasy hands and crumbs everywhere.
Boat hits a wake, things fly and I am vacuuming for quite a while to rid the boat of this stuff.
I keep it light but I am not afraid to share my thoughts.
Had a friend walk up to the boat once proudly carrying an ice chest to take along.
Set it on the front deck and slid it a little. It had sand on the bottom and scratched up the bow nicely. A lot of buffing and it is hidden but some people just need to be taught, they don't show up with boating manners if they don't have experience.
My older brother pounded basic rules into my head when I was 15 or 16. Those rules still work today for the most part.
Same when you load the boat on the trailer. Experienced boaters grab a towel and start wiping everything down, new people get out and say Thanks as they head to their car.
A little discussion ahead of time eliminates some of the frustrations after the fact.
