Nazi!?!?! Wow! Come on OOW!! Thats pretty ugly, and not appreciated. And, those are your words, and certainly not mine. What they did in Europe in the 30's and 40's is reprehensible. On OWS. You have presented lots of liberal talking points, but, I don't really see much in-deapth information about any one of those points. I will pick one and give you some more ORIGINAL conservative thought....MINE! Your point: Find all the people responsible for the 2008 Wall Street Meltdown and bring them to justice (or something to that effect). My point: You may find this amazing, but, I ABSOLUTELY AGREE with you!! How about we start with Barney Frank-DEMOCRAT from Mass. Let's toss him in the pokey (he would probably like it though) for his role as the powerful Chairman of the House Financial Services committee for helping to bring about the current financial mess we are in right now. It all started with the housing meltdown, and it drug everything right down the toilet with it. The government felt that homeownership was a right. Everybody should have a house. Congress applied pressure on lenders to give questionable loans to anybody that wanted a house. They believed that rising real estate prices would keep the everything good over the long haul. Once bus drivers that bought $800,000 homes couldn't pay for them anymore, the house of cards came tumbling down in 2008. This is a prime case of big government knowing best, and sticking thier nose into the private sector. Government backed all these bad loans through Freddie Mac, and Fanny Mae, two GSE's( government sponsored entities). I am sure you have heard of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. They are the ones who just paid out $12,000,000 in BONUSES to their top executives. They are also the ones that just asked Congress for another $6 BILLION bailout, which brings the total to $170 BILLION since we began bailing them out. Below is a cut/paste from the article in the Boston Globe that I found that explains Barn's role in the mess.... "Frank doesn't. But his fingerprints are all over this fiasco. Time and time again, Frank insisted that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were in good shape. Five years ago, for example, when the Bush administration proposed much tighter regulation of the two companies, Frank was adamant that "these two entities, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, are not facing any kind of financial crisis." When the White House warned of "systemic risk for our financial system" unless the mortgage giants were curbed, Frank complained that the administration was more concerned about financial safety than about housing." I invite you to read the full article. I think it does a nice job of summarizing the overall financial meltdown, and how Frank, a big governmant liberal played a major role in it. Article from The Boston Globe on Barney Frank's (Democrat) role in the financial meltdown of 2008 Oh, and lets not forget the $10 BILLION financial scandal that rocked Fannie Mae. Jamie Gorelick was appointed to run Fannie Mae in 1998 (Clinton). She had NO prior experience or responsiblity in finance. For her term at Fannie, she received over $26,000,000 in compensation. A liberal appontee did okay in that gig. Nice work if you can get it. Sounds like a big slush fund for Democrat cronies. You know, crony as in Crony Capitalism?? I think she should go to prison along with Barn. I hope you don't cut and run, and call me a nasty name as you are heading out the door. I would really like to hear YOUR thoughts on what I have presented. I am sure that you will be able to convince me that I am wrong by dazzling me with YOUR brilliance, and not baffling me with other peoples progressive talking points that you have found somewhere online and cut and pasted. I can tell the difference. Barney Frank? Freddie Mac? Fannie Mae? Jamie Gorelick? |

that regulation sht is BS, it was a gaureenteed return, 0 fcn risk, banks just dont hand out there hard earned Jewish money, you would have to be a fool if thats how you thought it went down, if your debt ratio is not even close there is no way a bank will give you money, unless of course you knew there was a 100% gaureenteed return on it |

Eric....Hard earned "Jewish" money? What if its just hard earned money. Boy, some of you progressives really like to throw around some derogatory terms. What does being Jewish have to do with it?? Money is money. When a customer comes to you to pay up for your services, do you ask if they are paying with Jewish money? I assume you mean that Jews are considered very business saavy, and they aren't going to make bad loans. I am not Jewish, and I can tell you the only reason I let go of a dollar bill is to get a better grip on it. Anyway, check out the "Community Reinvestment Act" (CRA) dating back to 1977 (Carter). Bottom line, the government pressured financial institutions to make questionable loans to poor or rural areas that had been subject to so-called practice of "redlining". It is called that, I assume, because bankers would draw red lines on a map of certain communities in which they would not make loans due to questionable repayment potential based on incomes, or other factors. If they didn't make the loans in the "Red Lined" areas, they would face penalties, fines, not be allowed to expand, or worse, be charged as racist. All they were really trying to do was make good business decisions in the first place. Also, "community organizers" would come in and protest specific banks to pressure them into making bad loans. Community organizers! Hmmm! Where have I heard that term recently?!?! Oh yeah, I remember now. Obama was a Community Organizer, or Commuinity Agitator, before he became our Commander in Chief. See any connections now? Anyway, in my opinion, government pressure to make questionable loans and using Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae to back the loans up is THE key reason we are in the mess we are in. Certainly Republicans and the banks themselves had a role, but, just my opinion on what started the snowball rolling down the hill. |

Here, let me try again. This is a good example of the original point I was trying to convey on the 99% really being part of the 50%, and how the 1% are unfairly attacked. Thank god for the "1%" who start corporations and employee the rest of us so we can support our families, educate our kids, buy stuff, and even pay our taxes..... This is a little story about how we pay taxes in this country, and who gets demonized and why.... Bar Stool Economics Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this: •The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing. •The fifth would pay $1. •The sixth would pay $3. •The seventh would pay $7. •The eighth would pay $12. •The ninth would pay $18. •The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59. So, that's what they decided to do. The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. "Since you are all such good customers", he said, "I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20". Drinks for the ten now cost just $80. The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men - the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his "fair share?" They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay. And so: •The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings). •The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings). •The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings). •The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings). •The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings). •The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings). Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings. "I only got a dollar out of the $20," declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man, "but he got $10!" "Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man. "I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got ten times more than I!" "That's true!!" shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!" "Wait a minute," yelled the first four men in unison. "We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!" The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up. The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill! And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier. |
Yep that is why the Repubs are always NOT talking about raising taxes, it's not for you, it's the rich who really benifit. We agree. Cut to social programs also don't affect the rich, well not negativly. Rich in this country are lucky to have you schilling for them, well no, not really.
Oner your whole outlook is so way out there. Me and david and dave have our head screwed on right. Social programs are for the lazy scums of America. Left wing liberals think they work but they dont. I dont want my tax dollars going to people who dont want to work, get feed for free, or get free fking medical care when they are able to get there lazy fking ass out of bed and work. And this taxation with no represenation his just a hint off redistrubution of wealth. Take from the rich and give to the lazy liberals that flat out dont want to work. I have no respect for someone who "bleeds the fking system"!! BTW, is not these social programs a problem as we speak in these communist countries. Didnt these is what the cold war was about. Again, the RICH PEOPLE run this country, NOT THE FEDERAL GOVERMENT!!!! |

OOW.....And to think all that work I put into explaing/debating one of the OWS key mandates fell on deaf ears. I think you are much more interested in tossing out your talking points or knit picking what I have said. I will assume you are not really interested in getting down to the facts of the real issues.
I will also assume that since you didn't dispute anything I posted on the issue, that there is total agreement of what is happening at Freddie and Fannie, and that Barney Frank should be put in prison for his role in the meltdown. Home Foreclosure....Sure, I'll play along. You be the bank, and I will come and get a mortgage from you. Then when I lose my job, I will have a nice place to live forever courtesy of On One Wheel Bank Corp. I probably just won't ever be able to find another job though. I have been trying. Just can't find one. Its tough out there. But, hey thanks for the place to live. Oh, by the way, I have a rare nervous disorder too. The doctors say it is incurable. Probably never be able to work again, even if I could find a job. Oh, and I am going to be 53 on my next birthday. Getting up there in years. Between my age, job prospects, and health issues, life is just kicking me in the ass. But, my family and I sure do appreciate OOW Bank Corps. generosity. Well, I better get down to the nearest OWS and do some protesting. The doctor said it was okay to protest. And that boys and girls, and college professors is how its done! Hey, I would make a great community organizer. |

One of the demands of OWS listed in an earlier post was "Nothing short of Democracy". So explain why the American Nazi Party and the Communist Party of the US back the movement. American Nazi Party endorces OWS So now we have the President, the liberal House and Senate arm and arm with the Communist and Nazi Party. How's that hope and change now. On the bright side, by this time next year O will be shopping for a new house. |

Good stuff Jack! I was listening to a political talk show today on the radio. The host thinks that what we have seen so far from OWS is a trial run. He thinks that the big event will be in Charlotte for the upcoming Democratic convention. The thought is it will be to replicate Chicago in '68. We shall see if it comes to pass.
By the way, Obama already has a home in Chicago. He had some sort of land deal on his house with Tony Rezko, a big Dem supporter here in Chicago who was just sentenced this week to 10 years in prison earlier this week for political corruption charges. In the article, they describe him as a "former" friend to Obama. Chicago Sun Times Article on Tony Rezko...,"former" friend of Barck Obama |

Where did you see a commercial for this? I want one! I think this post has the same degree of truth as many of your posts.
I was very disappointed when this special edition Barack Obama Chia Pet was pulled from stores in 2009 before I had a chance to purchase one. It was viewed by some as being racist and it has not been offered for sale since then. If you really know where to get one let me know. What better way to honor our Commander in Chief that an environmentally friendly "green" sculpture. I believe it may serve as a model to the sculptors who eventually add his head to MT Rushmore. I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends. It will be a long, cold dry spell until the CCs float again where i'm from. Until then stay warm. I know Eric. I was just kidding you. It just struck me as funny. However, as far as protecting them, I assume you mean protecting Israel?? The current administration doesn't seem "overly fond" of protecting Israel. They seem to throw them under the bus every chance they get. Just like when the Big O made a comment a week or so back into an open microphone when he was talking to Sarkozi(sp)-President/ Prime Minister of France. I don't care for the way the administration is treating Israel.

I wish time travel was possible, it is but we dont know how yet, i would love to go about 30 years into the future and look back at this moment forward. maybe we are at the dawn of waking up and starting to realize whats been happening, I just think we have gotten so passive and the let someone else handle it attitude that led us into the current mess. but again it would be nice to go back in time and change a couple of things, alot of what ifs

Back to being ignorant of OWS. Why are they constantly occuping something that really hurts the people they are supposed to be for. When the occupy Wall St the banks survive but the small businesses in the area suffer. Now they want to occupy xmass at Walmart and Target, which won't do much but make it hard for common folk to shop. Once again really no effect on Walmart but damaging to to regular taxpaying schmucks. Seems counter productive and why do democrates claim to be promoting this? It is hard to get me behind something I just can't understand.

Regarding OWS, I heard some interesting analysis today. As we all know, the so-called "Super Committee" from Congress was a complete failure. Six Dems, and six Republicans could not agree on how to cut spending, or increase "revenue". The analysis was that OWS had a role in the fact the Dems could not, and would not agree to any Republican ideas, regardless of the fact that the Republicans were willing to increase taxes (revenue). It was all about HOW they wanted to increase taxes. The Dems INSIST on raising tax rates. The Republicans want to broaden the tax base to bring in more revenue. Didn't matter. The Dems insist on raising the tax rates on the "1%" (or the very rich in general).
Bottom line....both parties are so far apart on how to govern the country, that only the 2012 election will determine which way to take the country when one party or the other wins, and can govern from a position of strength. The Republicans stance.....In favor or cutting domestic spending. Broaden the tax base out so more folks are paying taxes, and lower tax rates to spur the economy which will bring in more revenues. Some loopholes also may need to be closed, but, the lower rates will offset the closed loopholes. The Democrats stance......Continued high levels of deficit spending. Let the Bush tax cuts expire, and increase tax rates on the very rich (which ultimately means increase tax rates on everybody). I would be all in favor of a simplified tax code to make things simpler. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to figure out your taxes on the back of a bar room napkin? But, lower tax rates are a must to do that. One thing is for sure, we have got to our deficit spending and huge national debt under control. We are going the way of Greece very quickly. |
